This might contain spoilers. Okay so here's my theory. You know how in the E3 Demo Rookie picks up a blown up detonator and then you flashback? Well during the flashback you hear words from the first cut scene, which will explain what happened to your teammates (In this case, Dutch). So in other words, everything that is said in the first cutscene gives clues to what happened to your teammates.

I can't give many examples/speculations since I'm in my laptop and I can't hear the poor audio in the youtube video (of the first cut scene).. but something did catch my eye. Romeo says "What am I going to do with this in a covenant ship" (while looking at the sniper). Well maybe his Pod crashes into the ship during the explosion and he space travels with it. That would be a badass cutscene wouldn't it? Anyway, what I am saying is that if we pay close attention to the first cutscene's dialog, we might be able to guess what happens in the game. Maybe not the WHOLE game but most of it.

Also if someone has a link to a good quality video of the cutscene please post the link.

Thanks for reading.

Nice idea but no. If any ODST managed to hit the carrier they are dead due to it slipspacing(not timetrveling). Since you only see your teammates in the cutscene it takes quotes from them so you know who you are playing as. Remember the Rookie hasn't seen any of his team since the drop and he missed the battle so the only things he or the player have heard are what they say in the first cutscene. It doesn't have any clues of what happens to them in the first cutscene.

You said Romeo would land inside the ship.

First off the ship didn't time travel. It jumped into slipspace (AKA hyperspeed). But with Romeo landing on the ship will happen. I know you didn't say it would but in game informer ODST issue theirs a part where the captain and Romeo are looking at the Rookies drop pod.

No. He doesn't crash on the ship because they're still above it when they are changing courses, and when the ship jumps, the slipspace rupture is what made them crash.

What I'm trying to say is, they start to crash after the ship is gone.

It ruins it because none of them would be able to crash into it on the course that Dare changed them to. Most speculation at the moment is that Dare changed course to make sure the ONI Alpha Site would be secured, since she herself is an ONI Representative.

Oh okay so the explosion means that its already gone? oooooooo Anyway, still the first cutscene might hold some clues to the rest of the game, since whenever he flashesback some of the first cutscene dialog comes up. Right?

Also about the timetravel, yea i mean space travel sorry about that. Simple mistake.

Dude, the ship jumped. It's the reason they crashed in the first place...

Like I said, the dialogue is to help know who you are playing and to give it more of a feel. It doesn't have any clues about there fate, how can you even think that? Those quotes are the only words the player hears when in the first cutscene and you don't see them again until closer to the end of the game(if they aren't dead). The first cutscene is the first cutscene to show the player what is going on not what happens to his teammates before the game even really starts.

No, they were planning to drop onto the Covenant ship. However, Dare needed them to be in New Mombasa. That's what's up with the dialogue in that cutscene. "They're not going to like what they hear"? "What could be more important than that carrier?" "We're way off course!" "You're going exactly where I need you to go." and let's not forget the fact that Buck seems very frustrated when he talks to the squad.
