"It is impossible to prepare for and prevent a war at the same time"
-Albert Einstein

I'm going to keep this short and simple. If you don't agree with me, whatever. But this makes more sense that what others have been sugesting

Bungie has given us a total of 5 books, and 4 games worth of stories in the halo universe. One of those books was Halo: the Fall of Reach (tFoR). It had a full story (prequel) to Halo 1. If bungie were to base this entire game off of tFoR, would there be any new stories to tell or mysteries to solve?

No.

That immediately takes that option out of the picture. If bungie wants to sell a game and make it interesting to play, they wouldn't use a storyline that has already been explored, they'll create something new for gamers to reveal as the story progresses.

So please stop jumping to the conclusion that because Reach is in the title of this game, the storyline will follow that of tFoR.

Dude, it has to. No matter what the game will be based on a book.

  • 06.18.2009 4:26 PM PDT

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

As long as you dont support the: Time travel theory & Reach/Legendary ending planet are the same theory...

then I will say that bungie just may do that. Seeing as it would be boring to already know what would happen.

my take.

Only one of the 5 figures in the banner is a spartan. Just getting that out of the way. Spartans all look the same, and the one on the left is obviously a spartan, while the otherslook like normal humans.

Now, the one spartan is a spartan who simply got lost in the hell that was the battle of reach. He got cutoff from everyone else and was presumed dead.

This preserves spartan canon and allows the story to be completely new.

My idea for a story? a fight for survival that runs alongsideof tFoR, Halo CE and First Strike.

Maybe it focuses on a part of FoR that we didn't read.

Not all spartans look the same. But you are right on the fact that the game will have to happen during either FoR or First Strike.

Lord of the Rings sold pretty well, wouldn't you say?

No Elites in Halo 3: ODST = FAIL

Maybe not but your very naive to think that even 5% of Halo fans have actually read any of the books...

The story contained within The fall of Reach will still be bright and new to the masses while everyone else would appreciate a game based around the book.

their Armor is identical. not on the inside, but what kind of spartan take their armor all the way off and fights without it in a combat zone?

if those are spartans, they are NOT wearing Mjolnir armor. Only the one on the left is.

I was thinking the same thing. We will never know till bungie says somthing

Depending on your theory, They might not all being armor. It wasn't years many years after the augmentation they did not have armor except for the black armor suits. So they could have had many types of different armor they use. I don't know I could be wrong and I don't really care.

Doesn't even matter because to me they all look the same, except for Sam. He was always bigger then most so he might have had modified armor.

they recieved MJOLNIR armor (Mark 4) around the time Contact Harvest occured (a little later, but it was spartans who killed the first covenant ship, and they were in armor)

Mark 4 is not all that visually different from Mark Five (The first with shields.)

Also, Fall of Reach, the book, indicates that...

Every Spartan at the battle for reach had Mark 5 armor.
Sam is dead. Not at the battle, he died at least two decades earlier.

The one on the left is defintely not a spartan its an elite for sure.. spartans legs dont curve outwards like that and they sure dont stand like there slouching.

two things

what curve?

and

how can you tell if he's slouching? you can't see what his shape inside the outline is, and the outline has no indication of slouching.

Not completely (hopefully) but a set-up and first few missions straight from the book would be cool.

This is completely different. When was the last time you used your mind to watch a movie in order to get to the next part? Exactly.

Talking about logic and reason....

Did you know that there are holes in the plot where time passes and we know nothing about what happened? I guess you dont know that. BTW, i agree with you, chances are that it wont follow the TFoR plot. It follow the FS book since that one is the book that actually covers what happens in Reach.

I want my steaks Luke...

I know, this is what I've been trying to tell my friends but no one gets it... Halo: Reach occurs during the time when the spartans were dropped on Reach and continues throughout the time line of halo 1 to probably the point where the remaining spartans were rescued in The First Strike... not only during the plot line of fall of reach.

That's what seems the most logic. It doesn't mean we won't have a part about Reach we already know, as it's probably sure, but my guess is the same as yours. Most of the story will take place between the Fall of Reach and The First Strike ON Reach.
