Subject: Dual Weilding Re-fit.

And, a change to the poll question, any player character would be able to weild the energy shield, not just spartans.

Ok, so we all know Jackals only use one hand while weilding an energy shield. Why can't the player character?

In the Halo: Reach Campaign, and Multi-Player, players should be able to pick up Jackal Energy Shields, to be a dual-weildable piece, to go along with any other dual-weildable weapon. Such as a magnum, Plasma Rifle, Plasma Pistol, Sub-Machine Gun, Etc..

So, my question is should the player be able to weild the Jackal Energy Shield?

The sheild would fall such as a Jackals, but would take longer to recharge, and to fall.

Floodians whom I'm in a love square with:

camer guy 65
D A F T (daft_punk)
Sacred Flea

I watch this on loop when I'm bored.

Do it, Bungie!

Jackal Shields would add something to the gameplay, imagine defending a guy with a flag by soaking up all the bullets with the shield = EPIC

Thats, on the lines of what I was thinking while making this, nice.

But yes, the Jackal Energy Shields would also offer many various tactical advantages, like the BR!

No, there should be no dual wielding in Halo REACH. It wouldn't make sense in the timeline, and it flat-out ruins gameplay balance (compare Halo 2 Needler to Halo 1/3 Needler). Should we be able to wield one? Sure. But it would take both hands, maybe you could melee with it.

Dude, for being the idea man of Reach, you seem to be falling behind...

How would dual weilding "not fit into the timeline"?

Dual wielding is great. BR fanboys need to stop being so ignorant.

And who gives a crap about the timeline?!

Because spartans only had one arm in the first game but grew a second one before the second game.

The sheild should be added when you are running with it it should be by your side but pressing the fire button should bring the sheild in front of you protevting you form a certain amount of damage but stopping you from shooting your primary weapon.

NY Giants
Miami Heat

It makes sense in the timeline since dauling has nothing to do with story.

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

more importantly than game play you can raise the shield over your head then skip around singing in the rain..

  • 06.19.2009 12:45 PM PDT

in the books before spartans had sheilds they even used the jackal energy sheilds
Hell master chief used them so shut up about it wouldn't fit in with the story it doesn't fit in with the story how you cant

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

How does dual-wielding have to do with the timeline? Anyways, i believe it should be considered equipment that's only allowed when you have a dual wieldable weapon. It shouldn't slow you down or anything, like GoW2's boomshield.

oO( Underdogg13 )Oo

Would be cool, but those things would go down in a snap. Jackal shields can't take much damage, unless you mean a power boost when you pick them up too. But that wouldn't be canon friendly.

That's because GoW2's boomshield is all metal, a Jackal's shield is weightless concentrated energy.

Dual wielding needs to be taken out. The shield should be usable with all weapons. The shield would be raised with LT. With weapons like the Assault Rifle or Rocket Launcher(two handed) you would not be able to fire with the shield raised, it would be strictly defensive. With weapons like the pistol, smg or plasma rifle you could shoot with the shield raised but there would be an accuracy decrease.

The shields are strong against bullets and most people online use human weapons. The starting weapon is usually a human weapon as well.

I'm usually with you on things but what do you mean?how can you not hold two guns at any period of time ?

I want an Energy Shield AND an Energy Sword! Seriously, how cool would that be?

Before you ask, I DON'T want to join your group!

Gamebattles team - Survival Theory

Hmm. It would be awesome, but I normally destroy their shields while killing them.

I'd like to be able to hold 2 weapons, then not drop them when i switch/melee.

Have you ever played Halo 1? No dual wielding there, Reach takes place before that.

And compare the Halo 2 Needler to the Halo 3 one. Remember how horrible it was compared to the one in H3? The same is the case for the Plasma Rifle, Plasma Pistol, and Pistol, when compared to their single-wieldable Halo 1 versions. In order to have dual wielding, weapons ranges' need to be cut in half, same with their power. Why not just have one strong weapon rather than two half-guns which are worthless without being paired with something else?
