Over the years, Bungie has created some amazing games. They cleared the path for other FPS games like Call of Duty and Gears of War with the original Halo: Combat Evolved, and made the console a viable competitor in hardcore gaming with the X-box live enabled Halo 2. Even now, Halo 3 tops the X-box live charts. But all this started with the original Halo campaign. Although it is still fun to come back to these old favorites, they are starting to show their age. I think it is time that we honored these classics by giving them the face lift they need.
My idea is simple; Halo: Reach will be separated into three different versions. First will come the basic or "normal" game. It will contain the game disk plus whatever extra content Bungie adds. Second will be the usual Legendary edition, with DVD commentary and the like. Third will be a "Mythic" collectors edition, which would contain all the legendary content plus a separate DVD. This DVD will hold the campaigns from all the classic Halo games as well as updated versions of each, with new graphics, smarter AI and retouched sound.
Of course these new campaigns would not be free, but this project would be a considerable undertaking for Bungie, who would have to update each level across two or three different game engines and play formats. For those who want the classic campaigns but do not want to shell out the cash for a behind the scenes DVD or a mini helmet, the campaigns could be released at a later date as a stand alone disk.
Please feel free to leave questions, comments and critiques, I will be happy to respond.

Please consider enlisting in the UNSC's Black Water Ops Program. Led by Recon and featured multiple time in Bungie's Community Spotlight. We have over 4000 members in just over 9 months and we are growing everyday. I hope to see at BWO!

It would be kinda cool but probably expensive for the consumer and I think there are probably better things they could be working on...

While it would be nice to see the original Halo get a graphic overhaul for the campaign, I don't think it would be a great way for Bungie to spend their time. Along with that I would never want CE to have online MP, so that alone would remove the justification for a remake.

My reasoning, CE was never made with online play in mind, and as such never balanced for it. It was a fantastic LAN game, but add lag to that and your gonna have a big mess. The only way to make it work well would be to make changes and I sure as hell wouldn't want that.

I completely disagree, have you ever played Halo: CE, it was amazing. I'd love to see a graphical overhaul of Halo: CE, with achievements and Live thrown in, I'd pay $60 for it.

To play or not to play....

Yes and no. I liked the original Halo games (CE and 2) but I am thankful for some advancements in AI etc. AI in previous Halo games were quite stupid at times LOL. Aside from that yep I would pay for it.

It would likely never happen though as the cost versus the potential profit would be far less than simply creating a new game from scratch. Both Halo CE and Halo 2 have significant and unique problems when it comes to upgrading them or adapting them with improved graphics and possibly gameplay. You might as well create a new game by the time you work it all out.

I think playing Halo 1 and 2 with the features of Halo 3 would be awesome...maybe with some new missions? That'd be cool.

Sure the graphics for Halo CE and Halo 2 are outdated now, but to just port it on to this with improved graphics is a waste of time and resources.

Maybe you didn't read my post, I loved CE, it's the best out of the trilogy, hands down. However the reason changes were made for Halo2 was to balance the game for it's MP component. CE was never made this way, and as such it's MP would not be all that great over XBL. I'd rather see it retired then refined into the bullcrap that was Halo2 xbl and is Halo3 xbl.

That being said, if they are not to remake MP for live (pretending my say actually matters) then it would be impractical for them to remake any aspect of it.

I'd love to see Halo CE remade with current generation graphics, however, Bungie should release it as a stand alone game (if they do) because that would be extremely time consuming to have both CE's and 2's campaign included with Reach. Peace.
