Subject: Why Add the Bonus Disc? Please READ OP before posting.

Why not treat Halo 3: ODST as its own game, put it on one disc, and forget the Halo 3 multiplayer? Add the new maps with a download code in the box like they did with Halo Wars.. Why would people want 2 copies of Halo 3 multiplayer? Its not Halo 3. If people dont own Halo 3 and want to play its multiplayer.. why not let them buy Halo 3. This would settle all the grievances with the price. It just doesnt make much sense.

Thats like saying.. when reach comes out we are going to give you 3 discs. One with Reach campaign and multiplayer, one with Halo 3 ODST campaign and firefight, and one with Halo 3 multiplayer and maps. And we are going to charge you $100. Why.. WHY would you need discs with games you already own on new discs.

Brilliant! Make 2 versions.. 1 for those who dont have live and one for those who do. 1 version has 1 disc with campaign, firefight, and code for maps for $40 or something.. and the other has everything for $60. ITS SETTLED!

I am actually quite glad about this, I can just put my old Halo 3 disc back in its helmet and then play using the ODST box from now on.

  • 06.19.2009 8:14 AM PDT

And what purpose does that serve? Is the Halo 3 disc you have now, not the exact same thing as the bonus disc that comes with ODST? And.. helmet? Really?

You are aware of just how much the Legendary edition of Halo 3 went down to right? It was down to forty-five dollars at one point with a special deal. And no, its not the exact same thing, its a completely different campaign and it has three less maps. Maps generally cost around 10 dollars anyways and then theres the fact that I'm not incredibly cheap that I feel the need to complain about how a game is priced the same as the rest of the games that come out these days.

How would it settle all the grievances with the price?

Because then they wouldnt have to charge $60 since you are getting one disc, with 1 campaign, and firefight. The new maps on a code. The reason they are charging $60 is because you are getting the mulltiplayer disc as well. Well, everyone on the planet owns that already, ESPECIALLY the people that are going to buy ODST.

And I understand why they are charging $60. But a lot more people would buy it at a lesser price. Read a Sam Walton biography.

DMH | TMA | Blueprint

Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

The Halo 3 disc that comes with ODST is only MP no Campaign, so if I want to kick the snot out of some Covies on The Ark, then I have to pop in Halo 3. The whole helmet thing, I got mine for the price of Limited, Gamestop only had scratched Limiteds, so they gave me Legendary for the price of Limited.

Yes, but not every Halo 3 owner that likes multiplayer has Live or has bought all the maps.

I understand that. I know whats on each disc. It still doesnt explain why people would ever want 2 copies of the same multiplayer.

Thats why I said add a maps code in the ODST box like they did with Halo Wars. Read OP.

Thanks for choosing to whine over being a productive member of the community and possible element towards advancing Reach.

And people who DON'T have access to Xbox Live can't use those codes since it requires Live to use.

  • 06.19.2009 8:32 AM PDT

Yes there are many Halo 3 players who dont use live. This is besides the point. The point is.. you are paying for something you already own.

  • 06.19.2009 8:34 AM PDT

Im not complaining about the price. Im simply asking why you would need to buy something you already own.

My Halo disk is broken, so this is kinda useful for me, means I don't have to buy ANOTHER copy of Halo 3.

  • 06.19.2009 8:40 AM PDT

Yeah.. thats the only way I could see it being useful. If your Halo 3 disc is scratched or broken. Thats besides the point though..

WAT.......

  • 06.19.2009 8:45 AM PDT

My Halo 3 disc is on the verge of death, so this is good news for me!

Not to mention the fact it's free and will give me more space on the HDD as I can delete the maps!

  • 06.19.2009 8:49 AM PDT

Its not free. Its definitely not free. Like I said, Im not complaining about the price, but loyal Bungie fans already own the Halo 3 disc and dont need another copy. Why make us pay for something we already own if we want to play your new game? Kinda crappy thing to do to your fans..

Ahh. I think you're mixing up cause and effect!

They aren't making it full price because they decided to pad it with bonuses and incentives. They are stuffing it with bonuses and incentives because they decided to make it full price. Come on, this is MS!

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I might just keep the original Halo 3 disk as a back up.

Plus, it means I can delete the other DLC from my HDD...

Seems like a win to me.

  • 06.19.2009 8:57 AM PDT

They arent bonuses and incentives if you pay for them. And Ive owned the same Halo 3 disc since it came out.. and no problems. It makes sense if you have a damaged copy of the Halo 3 disc, but for the majority of people who are playing right now (Over 1 million unique players online every DAY) it doesnt help them one bit. So I will own 2 copies of the same game. 1 with the campaign and multiplayer, and 1 with just the multiplayer. And I will have paid for BOTH.
