It's called a marketing ploy to get you to pay more for something you don't need

Never mettle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Not to mention the fact it's free and will give me more space on the HDD as I can delete the maps!

This I agree with. My HDD is getting a little full, so the map packs being on a disk will give me some much needed space.

Let's see what the real price of ODST should be:
- All maps (not including 3 new ones) are 1400 microsoft points. We'll just buy a 1600 for $20.
- 3/5 of Halo 3 (matchmaking, custom games, and forge) is 3/5 of $60 which equals $36.
- New disk with firefight, and campaign (we'll say this is 2/5 of $60) which equals $24.
Total: $80
(I'm not completely sure whether or not you get theater mode with the second disk. If you do, then the total will be $80 + 1/5*60 which equals $92.

In conclusion, what would you rather pay: $92 or $60?

My point is the 3/5 of the Halo 3 part. If we own it we dont need it.. so -$36.. then 3 maps cost $10 not $20 (800 ms points.. NOT 1400 or especially 1600).. so -$10 more.. so total -$46.

That brings the total to $46 (92-46). You are insane sir.

THAT is what the real price should be.. according to your logic. Brilliant. NEXT!

OR if all you need is campaign firefight and maps according to you it would be 24 + 10 = $34. Now we are talking.
