A "full" new 360 game..? Well probably never.. but half of one.. hmm, has it ever been done before?

It IS a full game. It wasn't originally, but the game has changed. Halo 3 is a full game, and what does it have that ODST doesn't? ODST has everything Halo 3 has in addition to firefight. So, in theory, IT SHOULD COST MORE.

Sorry.. missed it. Thanks for directing me.

Well.. My whole point is.. for people who own Halo 3, $60 for ODST isnt exactly worth it. For people who dont own ODST. $60 is a STEAL! Sadly, the majority of us own Halo 3 already.

But some of the majority who do have Halo 3 don't have Live.

Where are these #'s? The majority of Halo 3 owners, DONT have live? I need some fact sheets here.

You obviously don't know how to read proper English do you? Not trying to insult anyone from a foreign country that does not speak English as a first language (i.e.: Germany, Finland, some parts of Canada, France, etc.), but this guy seems to have it as a first and seems not to understand it.

if knowledge is power and power corrupts, isn't knowledge therefore dangerous?

Not sure thats how it works but I would assume guy A has a legitimate business contract that allows him to sell this game (or he pays differences to company he got it from). Also.. youre trying to get me off topic so the thread will be locked. Not going to happen.. back on topic.

no i really wasn't. again if you thought it was going off topic, you could've just pm'ed me.
and i, among others, answered your question. now i just wanted to see what you would say to people without contracts selling games freely and MS not caring.

The second disk is also for people who don;t have LIVE and can't access the new maps. I have plenty of friends who don't have LIVE, but would love to have all the maps. Well, that second disk is for them. It's like the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack Disk.

And to them... its worth it.

Why not treat Halo 3: ODST as its own game, put it on one disc, and forget the Halo 3 multiplayer? Add the new maps with a download code in the box like they did with Halo Wars.. Why would people want 2 copies of Halo 3 multiplayer? Its not Halo 3. If people dont own Halo 3 and want to play its multiplayer.. why not let them buy Halo 3. This would settle all the grievances with the price. It just doesnt make much sense.

Thats like saying.. when reach comes out we are going to give you 3 discs. One with Reach campaign and multiplayer, one with Halo 3 ODST campaign and firefight, and one with Halo 3 multiplayer and maps. And we are going to charge you $100. Why.. WHY would you need discs with games you already own on new discs.
Look you are lucky they are still making Halo games so shut up.

Hahaha.. I mean.. SIR, YES SIR!

And what purpose does that serve? Is the Halo 3 disc you have now, not the exact same thing as the bonus disc that comes with ODST? And.. helmet? Really?

I agree with what you say. They should have the 2 disc as optional. This would be great for boosting the Halo 3 population

If I could give you Recon I would. Brilliant! Make 2 versions.. 1 for those who dont have live and one for those who do. 1 version has 1 disc with campaign, firefight, and code for maps for $40 or something.. and the other has everything for $60. ITS SETTLED!

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

The answer: Sell, sell, sell.

For those of you out there who hate campaign, just sell your original halo 3 disc, getting money to make up for the $60 you spent.

For those of you who love H3 campaign, spend 10 bucks to get the new H3:ODST maps from Marketplace(if they become available, probably) and then sell your multiplayer disc.

Either way, you'd make a killing on ebay or whatever, and probably get more cash back then you'd expect.

The 2 versions is the way to go.

  • 06.19.2009 10:29 AM PDT

Hmmm, I don't know what to say...

I agree. I thought it was going to cost $40, but here we go, $60, and in that $60 comes something we already own.

So ODST comes with ANOTHER disk that contains Halo 3 multiplayer. But what about if we want to go on Co-op? We'll have to go back to the ORIGINAL Halo 3 disk to do that? This really does not make any sense. I want it to be like Halo Wars where we get the code.

I am actually quite glad about this, I can just put my old Halo 3 disc back in its helmet and then play using the ODST box from now on.

Thats funny Phantom cause thats the exact reason i got excited about the 2nd disc when i heard about it, Im kinda a halo collector in my helmet i have Halo CE in its original box, Halo 2 limited edition, and when Im not playing it Halo 3. I will be happy to use the ODST disc for multiplayer and leave Halo 3 in its helmet.

Yeah, there's totally enough time for that! And it totally won't cost more money than it'll actually make!

What you arent smart enough to realize is that companies think of ideas like this.. people are paid to come up with ideas like this. And it was overlooked so people like you would have to pay the maximum amount of money.. You are just too dumb to realize it and will blindly throw your money wherever they tell you.

I understand that perfectly. They decided against it because it would probably cost more money to make the two versions (with one at a reduced price) than they would recoup by increased units sold.

So then why not charge $80 for the game? People will pay it right?

Because at $80, the loss of sold units wouldn't be recouped by the increased price.

Don't have an Xbox or 360.
Use my friend's though.
Yay me.

Do you know how much it costs to make a new box?
For two versions, one would most probably have a flap overlapping one disk with the second disk in the flap.
Now think, how much money does it cost to make MILLIONS of these flaps and seal them? Then add that to the other MILLIONS of boxes without the flaps.

A lot of money would be used for it. And the majority of people with Halo 3 don't have Live. And if you hate it so much, sell the second disk and make a profit.
You could sell the second disk for like £30 or more.

No flap needed. Just 2 discs. Not 3, or 4. Use the same box. Either put 1 or 2 discs in the same exact box.

MJOLNIR SOLDIER

Are we all forgeting about firefight the game is really the ODST campaign and firefight (the 1st disc) and in my opinion that alone is worth the $60, the 2nd disc is just gravy. I understand the point that it seams useless if you already own Halo 3 and have paid for all the new maps along the way but it seams that we would all agree that the game would be worth at least $40 without the 2nd disc well the 3 new maps would be $10 on live so now we are at $50 and the extra $10 for a disc with every map and multiplayer on it just seams fair to me.

  • 06.19.2009 10:46 AM PDT

PLUS the beta! Thats another $20. OP is stupid. Id pay $130 for this.

Again, the material to make MILLIONS, I repeat, MILLIONS of those boxes would cost A LOT.

I believe the last three Mythic Maps (Citadel, Heretic, and Longshore) might be Halo 3: ODST exclusive, but I could have heard wrong.

Look closely here by Disc Two.

This standalone disc contains the complete Halo 3 collection - 24 maps in all - including the customizable Sandbox and three brand new exclusives...
