I forgot, how badly did Reach get it, I heard it was the biggest battle.

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

Really bad. They set fire to it, and basically made it's ground a glass-like substance (Hence the term "Glassing" a planet..)

I don't believe it has an atmosphere anymore either, so it's basically a giant funky looking astroid that's unable to hold life on it.

A good portion (above 85% of the planet's surface) was glassed, or bombarded with plasma weapons till nothing survived, including water, trees and the like. The rest was spared due to the presence of a Forerunner facility under the ground, where the Covenant were drilling for an artifact. Dr. Halsey, Sergeant Johnson, Master Chief and several other Spartan-IIs and UNSC personnel were able to secure the artifact first and escape from Reach in a hijacked Covenant Flagship, the Ascendant Justice. After that, I do not believe the fate of Reach is discussed. I could be wrong though, and need to re-read "First Strike".

The Covenant Burned it until it was but a GLASS. The plasma literally vaporized the atmosphere, distorting it made temperatures go up a degrees. All UNSC ground forces where utterly wiped out except the spartans of Red Team. The covenant had ships unloading almost immeditly after they came ferom slipspace. THATS BAD

And who knows what they did to the remainder after Halsey and co escaped with the crystal.

Well would it really matter? Basically the entire planet was devoid of life, and the Covenant would have eliminated pretty much the rest of the surviving population by the time of First Strike.

Yayap

Well part of the planet was ok, because the Covenant were digging, but after they found it, they probably glassed the tiny portion left ok and the entire planet was devoid of living organisms, so yea I would say pretty bad.

To play or not to play....

Pretty badly. Though the Covenant did leave a small portion of the planet untouched due to there being a Forerunner installation there. I do not believe the Covenant would have glassed the rest of Reach after the humans escaped with the main Forerunner artifact in the Forerunner installation. There was still a Forerunner base on Reach that would be of considerable value to the Covenant.

If nothing else the place would be deemed holy and any attempt to destroy it would meet with wrath and vengence.

My guess would be the Covenant stayed anc occuppied what was left of Reach. Though how long the surface would remain habitable would be a question to ask.

Life would eventually return to Reach as not all of it was destroyed but it would take a long time to fully recover from the glassing.

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

The entire Planet was glassed except for a part of the Highland Mountain Chain, where the Spartans landed. It is here where the orbital defense generators were, and where the Forerunner facility under Menachite Mountain was.

It's also the setting to REACH script

I got his sarcasm...one person has to implement sarcasm and then you get a pile of terrorist chipmunks crashing your party, not fun at all..

Also I'm pretty sure Admiral Danforth NOVA bombed Reach as they left, so you wouldn't find much there at all.

  • 06.19.2009 7:26 PM PDT

He did not NOVA bomb Reach: what happened was he left a bunch of NOVAs where the Covenant could get them, so they would either: A. Get NOVAed and wipe out a majority of their ships/planet or B. Get NOVAed on Reach. The Elite Fleet that still wanted humans dead was NOVAed in Ghosts of Onyx though.
