This is an idea I've always thought they should incorporate into the Halo universe, or at least when it can apply -you'll see why.

In Halo 1, the Hunter's were equipped with a fuel-rod cannon-like gun on their arm, in Halo 2, this concept changed into a beam-like weapon, and thus continuing into Halo 3.

But for Halo Reach, I figured that this old Halo 1 technology might be applied, seeing as how old Covenant technology reminds fans of the good 'ole days of identifying and fighting the Covenant; teardrop cruisers, U-shaped Spirit drop-ships, old-fashioned Shade turrets, etc.

My idea, however, would make dead Hunter's worthy of killing.

Say you have an empty fuel-rod cannon, and you just finish off a Hunter with your second weapon. Walking over the Hunter's body would allow you to pick up it's unused fuel-rod ammo located on it's arm.

This is an example of the old gun, and the location of it's ammo:

This could work for the Halo 3 gun, I guess, if it's along the lines of this:

It'd be something minute that I think would make Halo Reach a bit more realistic and successful. It never made sense to me. hahaha

Thoughts?

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

I would absolutely love the idea. I always thought it was silly how they just, well, died with nothing left. I think bungie's reasoning that the gun is too heavy, even for a spartan.

I'm not talking about removing the gun and using it.

Just detaching the fuel-rod tubes and using them for your fuel-rod cannon -just like when you walk over an Assault Rifle and absorb it's ammo.

But a Hunter's gun isn't any bigger than a chain-gun. But it would probably lack a trigger, seeing as how a whole bunch of worms is in control of it.

$.50 in store credit.

Sounds good, but how often do you have a fuel rod cannon?

The fuel rod cannon on a Hunter is biologically attached to them and works differently than hand-held fuel rod cannons, so this idea would be awesome, but it wouldn't be canon-friendly.

Halopedia speaks wonders.

The fuel rod cannon and the hunter's cannon are two different variants, they don't use the same ammunition and firing method.

Join Lucid Orange a machinima/custom gaming group!

Join Lower The Guns they are a group that wants to get the guns lowered on halo 3.

Good idea.

Fav. Games: Halo, Marathon, Gears of War, Guitar Hero, CoD4, Rockband, Super Smash Bros(all 3), Legend of Zelda, and alot more that isn't right off the top of my head. ^-^

Pick up a dead hunters arm and drag the body behind you while you burn an entire room full of aliens with plasma? you would move very slowly though but I can see it happen.

I am Legend

I agree with the person that said it is biologically put on the hunter. As most of you kmow hunters are made of those worm things and are completely atatched to the hunter unless you dragged him around witch then you probably woudn't be able to turn well. They don't have ammo they have energy cells. They are also different weapons.

they say it's similar though. Which is why I said the Hunter's in Halo 1 were more suitable for this idea. The Assault Cannon in H2/3 weren't really the same, but the ammo sure looks the same.

I'm not suggesting you should fire a plasma beam out of a fuel-rod cannon, but if we're heading back to the old technology of Halo 1, we may encounter the older Hunters and their weapons. In which case this ammo still might help.

I like the Halo 2/3 Hunter cannon better than the Halo CE Hunter cannon, I'd rather not see the Halo CE one again.

Edit:Maybe a Hybrid version could be used. At long distances it would fire the mortar version from Halo CE and at medium distances they could use the Halo 2/3 constant stream of plasma.
