I don't know if this exactly fits in to here, but it has to do with the Forerunners. It is from one of my older posts, and is a bit long, but hope you will read it all.

The Forerunners have sort of lurked in the shadows of the Halo universe for some time. There has never been much information given out on them in the books, and we only recieve bits and pieces of information from Halo and it's novels. What I have heard of though is that these Prophets and Engineers who are very weak physically, but unusually strong mentally had lived once peacefully on their home world. But in the early years of their species the Forerunners were observing them and then came down onto their homeworld and left technology which was very unknown to them. The Prophet race became very interested into the technology and artifacts the Forerunners had left them, and it came almost to the point where they would kill each other just to get to the information first. Realizing that they were too weak to fight their own battles, they basically abducted other races (i.e. Elites, Jackals, Grunts, Hunters, Brutes, etc.), taught them of the Forerunner and what they thought was their plan or destiny with what they found.

As you can tell the other Covenant races compared to the Prophets and Engineers are quite unintelligent so it was probably easy for them to be persuaded. Now the Prophet leaders had an army of billions and billions of soldiers fighting for them, and each race had a specific purpose in their caste system. The Prophets were the leaders (politically and religiously); the Engineers were basically well, the head engineers who could build almost anything; the Elites and Brutes were the closest race to the Prophets since they were much more intelligent tactically than the others, and much stronger; the Hunters seem to be next since they take no orders from the weaker races such as Grunts and Jackals. Below the Hunters in the caste system are the Jackals who are almost like the stealthy race with amazing hearing, sight and a smaller frame which makes it harder to see them; and at the very bottom of the caste system are the Grunts who are weak by themselves but extremely deadly en masse.

It now seemed to the Prophets that they had all they needed to fight off any race that would come in conflict with them trying to find and observe more Forerunner technology. As Earth and humans began to grow as a society, the humans began to explore other planets and more of space. As you can tell when the Covenant saw these humans who the believe were lesser beings, beginning to make their homes on planets which the Covenant thought were rich with Forerunner technology they became angry. The Prophets saw this threat to their religion and cultures and began to attack so they would be able to wipe out the race so there would never be an interfeirance with them again.

(Speculation)One thing I found interesting though is maybe the Prophets found something in the humans and their technology that they didn't want to believe. They found that we had some Forerunner techology and were using it. Could it be that maybe the Prophets think that this race could be lets say the "bastard-child" of the Forerunners. But then why would they want to destroy something they are working so hard to find? Maybe they think thought that if the humans didn't realize what the truth of the Forerunners was they could stumble upon something so powerful and great that we could do something with that object that could destroy them or their beliefs. If the other Covenant races found out that all the Prophets had told them was a lie, than then there would be a massive rebellion since all the pain and suffering they had gone through was a for a case and religion that didn't even exist.

If you look into First Strike when Dr. Halsey and some Spartans found that mysterious artifact undergound in Reach the Covenant gathered a massive force to try to retrieve it from them. Could it be that the Covenant though that the humans could be a threat to this object and could destroy it? The thing was though when the thousands of Covenant had Dr.Halsey and the Spartans at a deadly gun point range when the had the artifact the would fire at them because they knew once stray shot could destroy it. But isn't it a coincidence that the Covenant were right after all. The Marine named, Locklear destroyed the artificat (and himself) after they had gotten off Reach because his feelings for a lady pilot killed by the Covenant were strong enough to make him destroy it. If the Covenant had gotten ahold of it though the humans chances of winning the war would be hopeless. Was it a good thing that the artifact was destroyed, or was it the wrong thing to do because one mans feelings got in the way of his judgemeant?

What bothers me though is that no matter how many times we look into these clues it seems like it always leads to a dead end. We need more information to be able to have a way to clarify just a bit of this information so we wouldn't always have to speculate on "dead-end" facts. Hopefully when Halo 2 and possibly another book come out we can get some of these things cleared up for once.

This is what I can think up so far, but everyone else is free to comment, correct, or think up their own speculation.

For being new to the forums, Ronik2k2, you bring up some points I've never seen... Which is a rare thing, really. Kudos.

No one flame him/her. He made it clear that it was only his opinion, and wasn't trying to force it onto others' beliefs.

:) Thanks Shai! I have a few other things I'd like to bring up but I probably won't be able to get to them until at least lunch time tomorrow.

Chaplain- I don't know if you saw my post (bottom of page 3), but I would like your thoughts/opinions on my thoughts/opinions :P. You've sorta answered some of them in replies to other people, but I'm just curious what you have to say.

And once again, ANYONE with any thoughts on my stuff, I'd love to hear from ya.

This is kind of getting back to the forerunner being humans idea,in the game halo, the library. While youre running down the hall 343 Guilty Spark says something like "I'm happy to see that some of them survived".Not in those exact words I assure you but it does prove another pointto humans being forerunner.

No one really knows yet where the Flood came from (I think). And we will most likely find out in Halo 2 because I dont think (and Bungie said) that there will be a Halo 3. So, all the answers should be answered in Halo 2.

I don't know, because he's crazy?!? But if I recall correctly, he said something like "This installation was built to study and contain the Flood. I am happy that some of them survived to reproduce."

I am not currently with my 'Box so I can't confirm that, and my bro has my Flood book so I don't know....

After being stuck on Halo installation O4 for thousands of years basically alone he became rather insane and skitzafrenic. And when the Flood were suddenly released and the Covenant and Humans were roaming the ring he was relatively happy even in the worst of times, partly because he was insane and partly because he hadn't been in contact with anyone but himself for a long time.
And did anyone read my post near the top of the page?Maybe that could help you out a bit.

Good thoughts. I've often thought (although my thoughts were somewhat different) that thats how the Covenant came to be... Prophets acquiring Forerunner technology, manipulating it to see their aims, then "assimilating" other species.

And I don't think Locklear destroyed the Crystal because of the loss of Polaski. Didn't Halsey tell him to do something with it, and then he saw fit that he had to destroy it? I'd check, but I don't have that book right now.... so perhaps I'm in the wrong.

And you're absolutely right. It all leads to a dead end. You think you're on the right track, then something pops up that severely contradicts your thoughts. This is why I no longer think that Forerunners are Humans. I used to (a while ago), but then I saw things that didn't add up where they should have, if it were true.

There's actually very few people who don't really understand the connection. Its easy to get, and many people believe it.

Okay Shai, sorry for not getting back to you eralier, but it took me a while to find it. (I was reading First Strike for about two days straight.) Now, here's to answer yuor question, you kinda wanted a further analysis of that convo between Zuka and the Profit.

"The Flood" Page Number: 95-96 Location: Profit and Zuka meeting.
..."And furnished with armor that may be superior to our own."
"Better than our own?" the prophet enquired, his tone making it clear that he considered such a possibility extremely unlikely. "Mind your words, Officer 'Zammamee. The technology underlying the armor you wear came straight from the Forerunners. To say that it is in any way inferior verges on sacrilege."

Hmmmm.... Do you see how controlling the Prophits are? They can't even accept that the Human race may have been better. He is trying to cover his tracks. Sacrilege...

Dictionary.com defines it as:
The sin or crime of violating or profaning sacred things.

This entry best describes what the prphet meant. They're religion is not even aloud to discuss such nonsense... Sounds like a cult.... to me. And are cults true? Did the cult that shot down our ATF guys at Wacco, Texas have good religious intentions? I don't think so.

And here we go to round number two... I have something for you Eagle. Check this out. (In reference to Marvin Mobuto being an ODST and mistaken "Reclaimer.")

"The Flood" Page Number: 102 Location: (Ledge of the truth and Reconcilation level.
His MJOLNIR armor and shields could take a limited amount of the Shades' plasma fire. The Helljumpers ballistic Armor, on the other hand, jus couldn't take that kind of firepower.

Freshening your memory here, you only encounter regular "armored" marines. And these "regular" mrines are actually O.D.S.T.'s. (Helljumpers.) Go ahead and read it if you want in your own book, word for word here.
________________________________________________
________________________________________________
And now I'll go back to my posts ORIGINAL intentions... To review "First Strike."

Wow, that's quite an accomplishment for me... To read 340 pages, in two days. A whole friggin book. Anyways. I don't know if I'll have to read it over again, but I found minimal evidence supporting the Forerunner = Human theory. At one point in time I realized that I may have to walk away from this whole thing bowing my head.

Bad Evidence
"First Strike;" Page Number: Forgot. Location: Heh, Forgot that too...
Something blah blah blah, can't beleive it says this blah blah blah... something about the covenant referring to the Forernnur as "Giants."

God damnit. I can't remember this part too well, (It was like 4 O-Clock in the morning.) And I sat there and contemplated for several minutes about this... Please, if somebody is currently reading, or doens't mind to find where this is at, do so. The Covenant forces say it, something about being able to do something with (or about) the "Giants." (Forerunner. I got the distinct impression that's what they meant.) But hey, maybe I just read it wrong... Hopefully.

Good Evidence
"First Strike;" Page Number: 142 Location: Reach
This new corridoor was twenety meters high--large enough for a Titan to stride through.

Architecture on the Halo structure was also very large. Keep in mind the planet "Reach" is human controlled and inhabbited.

"First Strike;" Page Number: 144 Location: Reach
...cottony clouds that morphed into spheres, puffy pyramids, bars, and cubes.

Take note that it says "Pyramids." Pyramids are not only a structure found on earth, but are mentioned in multiple theories that the Forerunner built them. (Within the halo univers that is.) And also take note, that Eric Nylund was possibly foreshadowing again, by saying "Pyramids" instead of triangles. If he was going with geometric shapes (As he continued to say "Bars, and cubes..."), he wouldn't have pointed out that they were pyramids, more just triangles.

Besides all of this, I really wished that Corporal Locklear hadn't been so self centered as to blow himself up... That guy was cool, I was like "Hell yes, if this guy's going to fight along side me in Halo 2!" I even planned on hitting the "Revert to Saved" button if I caught him dying... That and Polaski, Polaski was set in my mind to be another Foe Hammer... Heh, tough break eh? Great book, pissed the hell out of me in some spots, but great book. Feedback?

I had once thought the "Giants" was significant, too. But remember, it also said in that same chapter that it wasn't an accurate translation. Cortana then proceeded to make a small copy of her translation software and used Covenant AI technology that she stole from the little bastard that was on the ship to enhance her translations. She then found that rather than "Giants," the translation was actually supposed to be "Great Ones." "Great Ones" can have different meanings.

Giants... Pshaw, I'm quite surprised that nobody came to the quite obvious conclusion that the Forerunner tunnels were big to accomodate VEHICLES? The Forerunner are vaguely human/covenant sized (From 4 1/2' to 9 1/2') The control panels height is ample evidence of this (unless they operated them with their toes) C'mon guys, the structure size thing is being overthought. Many more passages are quite small...

And just focused on that - Good Catch Shai. And nice new sig... Liet..

AND IF THATS NOT ENOGUH FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

You know I think? I’m going with the forerunner = Human connection, I mean think about it, the covies want to come to earth and take it over, they obviously bombarded some of Earth, we’ve all seen the vid of MC dropping through space onto the covie ship, but obviously Earth is where a very very important artifact of the Forerunner is, you know? Or else mankind would just be dead, glassed over, and why all of a sudden out on harvest, why wouldn‘t they just do the same to Earth as they did to harvest?

Ackerson when the covies first attack probably didn’t have his position, I mean the wars been going on for what like 10 years now? Harvest was a long time ago, but why all of a sudden would the covies just attack? They must have found an artifact that pointed to our system and space, I think that the Prophets and some of the Brutes are controlling everyone else into joining the Covenant. I mean the Covie’s worship the Forerunners, but yet in FS in the epilogue, when the Brute and the Prophet are talking about the artifact and the "great ones," the Prophet talks about how it wont matter about the great ones soon, and that nothing can or will stand in there way of domination conquest. So I think that Mankind will uncover that they are or are some how closely related to the forerunners, and the Elites will want to save/protect us but the Prophets wont hear of it, saying that we some how betrayed them, and are tainted anyways, even though they are Forerunners. Or something like that, and then the Covies will start fighting like the Elites, Hunters, and some Grunts, and Jackals, against the Prophets, Brute’s some Elites, and Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters. But I’ve heard (If anyone could get me a reference) that the Elites don’t like the Brutes and vice versa. So I don’t think it would be hard for the Elites to fight Brutes (Even further proving my point that they may go to war.), and I also think that Mankind will unlock some secrets, and make the Forerunner tech more advanced, cause the covie just copy and steal the tech, but mankind is smart enough, so when they find all this stuff, they will make it, and end up destroying most of the covies, but I do think Ackerson will some how try to steal the tech with his SII's, I think the SIII's are new Spartans but I also think that some how the original Spartans will come into play...... well that’s about it, so what yah guys think?

Someone said something about the rings firing some time in the past so therefore the Forerunners couldn’t be Human. But that’s why I think they are Human, because the Forerunner would want to keep part of themselves alive, right? The ring was only made to destroy things of certain size and mass, there for the Forerunners would probably make some time released DNA system, or something so that another species like the Forerunner or Forerunner DNA exactly, would be grown sometime after the rings fired. I mean if mankind was to die, we would try to leave something of us behind, like DNA samples, time capsules...etc etc. Now I haven’t seen this theory anywhere else, but I believe all the artifacts besides the rings really were hidden around Forerunner space, so that those who came after, or maybe even mankind, which they planned to come after them would find them, and advance at faster pace then forerunners even did. Making them even more powerful than their opposition.

Here’s your original version. Feel free to tell me to go to hell for screwing up your theory… lol.

You know i think im going with the forruner conection, i mean think about it the covies want to come to earth and take it over i eman they obviously bobard some of the planet i mean weve all seen the vid of MC dropping through space onto the covi ship but obviously eath is were a very very important artifact of the forruners you nkow or else mankindw ould just be dead glassed over and why all of a sudden out on harve. oh yeah and akerson when the covies first atteck probley didnt have his post i mean the wars been going on for what like 10 years now but im not sure ont aht one so you can discredit that theroy basht here but harvest was a long time ago but why all of a sudden would the covis just attack they must have found an artifact that pointed to our system and space i think that the phrophets and some of the brutes are controlling everyone else int he covi i mean the covi worship the forrunners but yet in FS in the epiloge when the brute and the phropet are talking about the artifact and the gerat ones the phrophet talks about how it wont matter about the great ones soon and that nothin can or will stnad int here way of domination there conquest so i think that Mankind will uncover that they are or are some how closely related to the forrunners and the elites will want to save/protect us bt the phrophets wont hear of it saying that we some how betrayed them and are tainted anyways even though they are forrunners or something like it and then the covis will start fighting like the elites hunters and some grunts and jackles against the phrophets brutes soem elites and grunts jackles and hunters but ive heard(if anyone could get me a refrance)taht the elites dont like the brutes and vice versa so i dont think it would be hard for the elites to fight bruets, and i also think that mankind will unlock some secrets and make the forrunner tech more advance cuase the covi jsut coppy and steal tech but mankind is inginuative so when they find all this stuff they will make that stuff and end up destryoning most of the covis but i do think atkins will some how try to steal the tech with his SII's i think the SIII are new spartans but i also think that some how the original spartans will come into play...... well thats about it so what yah guys think

someone said something about the rings fireing some time in the past so therefore the forruners couldnt be human. but tahts why i think they are human beecause the forrunnerw ould want to keep part of themselves alive the ring was only made to destroy things of certain size and mass there for the forrunners would prolbey make some time reliesed DNA system or something so that anotehr speceies like the forrunner or forrunner DNA exactly would be grown sometiem after the rings fired i mean if mankind was to die we would try to leave something of us behind like dna samples time capsels...etc etc now i havnt seen this theory any where but i belive all the artifacts besides the rings realy were hidden around forrunner space so that those who came after or maybe even mankind which they planned to come after them would find them and advance at faster pace then fourrunenrs even did. but thats jsut me pls noone lflame me and im sorry if this isnt the right theard to post this at and im also sorry for all they typos sorry

Liet..

OR maybe they just made them huge so they could be all majestic and stuff.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

But there are contradictions to not being giants, as well. In The Library, the Control Panels are very high-up. Perhaps they're built for only monitor use? Possibly...
