Doesn't it suck when you're making a symmetrical map and one side turns out a lot different than the other? Or how about when you want to make two identical structures but they are very complex and time consuming? Well I bring you a very simplistic and possible solution to this common problem. The answer- Grouping.

If Bungie uses the same "system" of forge as Halo 3's system than this idea can be possible. While in the Summary Menu of an object and the menus are "Respawn Time", "Spawn at Start" "Symmetrical/Asymmetrical" ect. there should be a new menu called "Group" in this menu the dropdown options would be numbers from 1 - 10.

Any obects that are set to Group 1 become an object based on their direction and distance from other group members. You select this group by pressing X while in Moniter and scrolling through the categories (Scenery, Weapons, Equipment) until you reach Groups. Then select group 1, and lay down the objects. Groups work just like regular objects accept the object limit increase not by 1 but by as many objects are in the group.

This means that structues could be multiplied as many times as the game would allow. There would be no more small errors with what are suppose to be symmetrical maps and maps would take lots of less patience and time to create.

I don't know, this is just an idea I've always wanted. I hope you guys like the idea. I do believe this is possilble if we keep this thread alive. So comment, flame, whatever.

I'm pretty sure Bungie will make a map creator this time around. Forge is awesome, but I don't think people saw the potential it had. Bungie does now. I wouldn't even be surprised if they set something up were you could also make maps on your computer and transfer them to your 360.

That's a great idea. It would definitely speed things up. It would also be cool if Forge was totally customizable. You start from scratch if you want and shape the land, make bases and everything else.

I would like to believe this, but knowing how Bungie creates games, i really don't thing they'll add in an entire creator, just very advanced forge.

But yeah, that would be amazing if Bungie gave us the feature to make maps on a computer. The only problem with that is modding, and you know how Bungie disapproves of modding.

Aww yes. Forgot about modding... damn it lol. Btw I can't see Bunige letting us be a monitor (seeing as they weren't around for Reach). What do you think they'll let us be? An Engineer, perhaps? That would make perfect sense in my opinion.

Map Creators aren't really in Bungie's area, but who knows.

The OP. Read it.

I agree with Civil. I hope they make a map creator for the new games because it would allow far more things to be added in fun ways. Halo 2 came with a editor for pc so i think it would be possible to make one for the next games.

This is never happen, it not because they can't do it, but because they make too much money off of selling maps, so why loose that source of profit?

I'm guessing if Reach has a forge option it will end up using a lot of the suggest ideas for the Halo 3 forge. Almost every time they interviewed a community or a map maker they asked what could be improved in forge, and for the most part added all the improvements they could without needing to create a whole new forge with sandbox. So if they're making a new forge with all these ideas and things they've learned from this forge I'm betting all maps will have a grid, more aesthetic options, and probably the ability to snap to grid lines, copy and paste structures, or move groups of objects as one item.

I daresay there will be some new options. Hopefully Forge Glue will be one, and my personal want-something that straightens object. When I'm trying to make a long wall it always ends up crooked, and a solution to that would be nice.

Grouping is a good idea and should be incorporated into more Map Makers.

by grouping do u mean putting things next to each other and kind of connect them so they becom 1 piece with the 2 pieces already made and you could like move both around at the same time with out going back for other 1?
