I have some ideas for Custom Games in Halo: Reach I'd like to tell you guys.

First off, they're called CUSTOM games, so give us as many options as possible.
In a symmetrical game, let us give each team different traits. Or even go as far as to give each player on each team different traits. For example, in a 10 player game, each team would have 5 players. So you'd be able to choose the traits for Player 1, Player 2, Player 3, Player 4, and Player 5 of each team. The number of each player could be selected randomly, or selected before the game (like a team) You could even give different names to the Players. You could allow more than one person to be a player, or only one, to allow class-based games.

This is just the beginning of my ideas.

Give us more trait options in Custom Games, so each game is truely unique. The speed/attack/etc. percentages should go by a steady amount (5% or 10% or something) And maybe add more traits. (Split weapon pick-up into, for example, Spawned weapon pick-up, Dropped weapon pick-up, Equipment pick-up, grenade pick-up)

Give us more weapons to mess around with in forge. Who cares if they're not in matchmaking. Make some truely unique, and fun to use weapons, that can be used for mini-games and what-not. (Some sort of gun that pushes things back, claws which can be used for zombies, ANYTHING, it doesn't matter how balanced) The same goes for equipment, give us some wacky equipment that can only be found in custom games. It's not going to hurt anyone, just give people more options.

Yet another thing is, allow gametypes to force character models. (Again, you could choose a different model for each player) For the infected, you could make infected players look like the flood. You could have a war between players with grunt models, and players with hunter models. It doesn't matter that grunts are smaller than spartans, and that hunters are bigger, because they are custom games.

I guess all I'm trying to say here, is that in custom games, allow us to make Halo into whatever we want. It's not like anyone would be forced to put unbalanced, crazy weapons into their map. You wouldn't have to put grunts, hunters, jackals, marines, etc. into matchmaking, nor the other weapons and equipment.

So why not, Bungie? Why not allow us to make our own, truely CUSTOM games?

If anyone would like me to elaborate more on one of my ideas, please ask. I'm just throwing ideas out there, and some of it may not have made much sense.

Again, these are only ideas.

If you read this far, thanks.

Just an afterthought, for the custom games settings, you could have a button to press for advanced settings, which would give you the ability to edit player 1, player 2, etc. and other, deeper custom options. Not pressing the advanced settings would keep it simpler, yet less customizable.

Maybe they should allow us to put the "Cov Carbine" and "Beam rifle" as starting weapons.

(If you think I'm lying go check)

Vancouver BC, Canada.

You bring up some very good ideas. Very interesting suggestions, but they would be difficult to incorporate correctly into a game where customizability is present, yet somewhat limited.

While many of those suggestions do seem to be somewhat interesting and intriguing, that doesn't necessarily make them sound. Some of these would easily absorb a good amount of work and quite a bit of it might just come down to network capabilities. For instance, the reason that the Beam Rifle is not a weapon you are able to spawn with is due to networking capabilities. The 360 console is only so advanced.

Halo Reach is a new game built by itself.

It's not an extension onto Halo 3.

It's its own game and if custom games are present, these are all technically possible.

-------------

onto the topic more so, I personally think that bungie is trying to keep things balanced in custom games too much.
It's called custom for a reason, and we should be able to fully customize it.
If there are lag issues, then sure, limit us somewhat.

But we'd love to be able to set any gun to duel-wieldable, or set custom zoom on any gun
(sniper zoom on sword?)

I really wouldn't mind some screw around weapons thrown into forge. The golf brute hammer is a start to that idea, but yea, it could be rather neat. Why not remake some of those weird/broken weapons from pre-halo 1 or from marathon, or whatever

We at least need all weapons for starting weapons. What was Bungie thinking in Halo 3?

At least weapon starts, and all the options from previous games. I don't know about new options though. Some of the options in the current game still don't work right, and haven't been fixed with a patch. I don't see why we don't have the option to input our on gravity like 122 or something. We can do something similar in Morrowind and Oblivion in armor. You would think the system would make the calculations and allow for more than just preset options, like going to the control board and inputting things in computer games when changing physics on Counter-Strike.

I wonder what happened to the gravity wrench and the harpoon gun?

Thanks for your replies, guys. I think out of all my ideas, the first one is the most important. In an infection game, you could make (randomly selected) different types of zombies. You could make a team game with 5 classes (chosen in the lobby) It would open up a ton of possibilities! Not to mention if everything else was added in, which obviously not every of those ideas, and probably not any of those ideas will be added in, but it's worth a try.

Halo 3 has lasted almost 2 years, now. And will probably last for quite awhile more. If they add these custom options to Reach, and a few other great suggestions I've seen around the forums, Reach will be alive long after the Xbox 360 is replaced. (Which is quite awhile away!)

Bungie, take your time, and put everything you can into your game to make it truely the best.
