I find that the booting system in Halo 3 is extremely frustrating. Purposeful betrayal can be left untouched and accidents can leave you searching for a new game.

I think I may have thought of a solution that will at least feel more fair. I say that if one is betrayed on purpose or not, the one who had been betrayed gets a free shot at killing the one who betrayed him, if they feel it necessary. Any further betrayals from either of those players on any teammate will be booted by the latest betrayed player if they choose to boot.

This is of course an idea for Halo Reach. Thoughts?

What about the inbred house potatoes?!

.

Or you could just not kill the other player at all and not get booted.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

Welll...I dont really know how that would end up. Try out my idea.

-Within 30 seconds of each starting round (or full game if its slayer), if you are betrayed, you get an automatic choice to boot, or forgive.

-Within 15 seconds of picking up a new weapon, if you are betrayed, same as above.

-If you betray someone, but also get a kill from killing an opposing team member with the same attack that betrayed, the betrayal does not count, for it was (most likely) an accidental betrayal. (grenade/rocket, scorpion, laser, shooting teammate that walked infront of you, through head to kill enemy player, etc)

Now I would also implant an invisible system for each player, that would taly how many betrayals they give each game. If they have betrayed at least once in 3 games in a row (if it applied to the 2 rules above or not) then during the 4th game, unless you dont betray at all, the first person you betray automatically gets the option to boot. HOWEVER, if the 3 games before were all accidental, and you dont betray at all the 4th game, the taly is erased. (If you do betray and get booted in that 4th game though, the same thing applies for the 5th game and so on until you dont betray for 1 full game)

I know it might seem confusing, but if you get what I am talking about, it would actually work.

In a perfect world, sure. But how can you expect that? It happens all the time!

I like it except for the weapon timer. I imagine some jerks might follow you for the slotted time and kill you for the sniper.

Eh, it would need some tweaking. I say 30 seconds at the beginning, to keep those "OMG U GRABBED MY WEAPON THAT I CALLED! I BETRAY YOUZ!" from...well..betraying youz!

and usually in most games, you get into a battle within 15 seconds (or so) after picking up a weapon. (unless your like, across the freakin map and its sandtrap or something)

It wouldnt work 100%, but its efficiency would increase ALOT if you ask me.

Both of our ideas would make a great difference. I made this thread to see if the community can make this problem a bit less frequent.

You also make a good point regarding your solution.
