Halo Reach is going to have a very different multiplayer than Halo 3, Why else will there be a Multiplayer beta? The pupose of a public beta is to optimize the experience, and the only need to optimize an experience is if it is new, so Halo: Reach will obviously have 32(Maybe more)-player games, new weapons, and maybe some sort of Boarding-a-spaceship multiplayer gametype like on Star Wars Battlefront 2 (I drool at such a prospect).
But the thing that calls to my mind is that we MAY be able to play as the arseholes themselves, the Covenant. Presently on Halo 3, Team games, people are divided into two factions, Red, and Blue, isn't it plausable to move onto Human and Covenant? Obviously there shall be an annoying poster to point out balance issues, and how that would function, so to make life easier, I have decided to write out a short story on how such shall function,
"Ted and Geoff were eager to keep playing Halo: Reach Multiplayer, the addicting quality of such was a big factor, but the fact of 16 v 16 player games was also part of it, they had been in the searching for matches screen for 25 seconds, when they found a game, The Gametype was Ship Destroy, the Map was Orbital Swirl. Unfortunately due tomost of the game being composed of Parties, Ted and Geoff's was split up, Ted was assigned to the UNSC, Geoff to the Covenant. Ted's Character menu was loaded, and he decided to choose, between the Spartan and Augmented Marine, the Spartan, His Spartan's armour Permutations were loaded (Having them been set in the main menu) and he spawned. Geoff had the same process, except he would have to choosse between Elite and Brute (Yes I know Brutes did not apear until Halo 2, but It's Multiplayer!!) he chose Brute, and his Permutations were loaded. The action began, Carrier ships were being flown desperately across the vastnes of space, and many a player hit their respawn counter Halfway through the Journey. Fortunately, Both Geoff and Ted's transports made it to the other war cruiser, where they proceeded to thei objective, destroy as many componants of the enemy ship as possible. Ted began to venture further inside the organic architecture odf hte Covenant Ship, while Geoff did vice-versa. Geoff encountered a Augmented marine that was defending, though physically weaker than a Spartan, Augmented Marine's UNSC weapon Damage bonus, and stealth Capabilities made them just as formidable. Geoff Managed to kill the Marine, just.
He had lost his shields, and ws a sitting duck, although Brutes had a larger health reserve than other classes, their shields were the weakest, so Geoff Decided to play safe, and find a UNSC energy Terminal, the Human equivelant of The Covenant Divine Bestower, to recharce his shields, he found one, pressed X, and his shields began to recharge.
Back on the Covenant Ship, Ted was fighting his way through, with another Spartan to the Navigation Controls of the ship, where if he could smash them, his team would gain a signifacant point boost above the other team, many Brutes and Elites fell, and Ted's Shields had to recharge seeral times, until he made his way to the bridge, and made his way to the front of the Bridge, found the ship's console, and meleed it, The Commentator's voice ringed out "Gained the lead" and Ted's job was done, as 4 Elites, and 3 Brutes surrounded him."
God, that story looks strange.
