NXE <3 ODST -- A match made in heaven?

What do you all think about effectively utilising the NXE (New Xbox Experience) with Halo 3: ODST? The feature in question is the ability to save a game to your hard drive.

-- Proposal - ODST comes with 2 disks. Single player and firefight are on one, Halo 3's multiplayer is on the other. Would it not be great to have the Halo 3 multiplayer disk in the hard drive but also be able to access ODST's features?

In the very least I think firefight should be usable via the NXE, that's multiplayer and it would have a wealth of advantages such as the use of matchmaking systems to play Firefight (epic)!

-- How? - Users should be able to download the single player/firefight disk to their HDD. Then, when using the Halo 3 multiplayer disk usually blacked out options "Campaign" and "Firefight" should now be selectable from the main menu allowing (near) full access to Halo 3 ODST and increased flexibility. This would get around the issue of having to switch disks regularly.

-- To prevent abuse such as people downloading ODST then selling it seperately I suggest it is tagged with "Not to be sold seperately" something that seems to work with Walker's crisps haha (making it illegal to sell the copy without the Halo 3 ODST multiplayer disk). It should also still be required for the Reach beta, I doubt anybody wants to pass up on that.

Tell me what you think! Please express any concerns and give any suggestions. Thanks for reading.

i would like this better so i don't have to switch the disks to play multiplayer, and then switch back to campaign

I agree. I don't mind switching discs and all but if there's an option to not, i'll take it.

People who can't be bothered to switch discs are LAZY :D

Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

I think you have to change discs anyway. Whenever I play a 360 game that's on my hard drive, it still makes me put the disc in. Dunno why.

to stop you buying/renting a game, saving on the HDD, then selling it.

Ah but with my suggestion you still need to keep the second disk, it would not work on your old Halo 3 but could be programed into the new standalone multiplayer disk. If you could not sell ODST by itself and if the ODST disk was required for the Reach beta I doubt it would be an issue and therefore think it would be a great way of harnessing the true potential of the NXE.

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

Finally a good idea in a sea of complaints!

Wielding a double-bladed chainsaw, wearing a potato sack on your head and spinning around mindlessly is amiably quick at getting anything done

Since when was "swapping discs" an "issue"?

You people are just plain lazy. Just be honest.

What the hell is the Recon beta?

If I had one wish for Bungie.net, it would be to be able to change my username. Even if it cost me Microsoft Fun-Money, Space Bucks, or Stosh Dollars. That is all.

The game has already been made, so unfortunatly this cannot occur.
The disk production needs to be stopped NOW!

In all seriousness this could be an issue, I wonder if it would be possible to do in a patch? Unlikely but you never know...

A reason Bungie may wish to do this, from what I've just heard via IRC, is that the live population will be split between ODST and Halo 3. Halo 3 has been at the top for a while, I can't see Bungie happily giving up their bragging rights.

Certainly something to consider trying even if it is only possible through a patch.

and how!

The Halo 3 Multiplayer disc that comes with ODST will not have Campaign or Firefight options. Sorry to say, but you will still have to switch.
