Not everyone has the best connection. In Halo 3's Campaign, if someone didn't have an up to par Internet connection, the game would lag.
Movements, actions, and shots would all be slightly behind while playing online Campaign.
Is the system better designed now, or will we have the exact same problems with Firefight in the new game?
Most likely the same problems, I bet the thing its doing is making sure the AI is syncing properly. If you'll notice, nobody has been able to make a co-op mod for halo 1 or 2 for PC, and this was because there was no way to make the AI sync over the internet (or even a LAN cable)
I'm guessing halo 3 was just kinda set up to support AI over net (hence the player limit, apart from just game breaking player numbers and things people can do to get where they arent supposed to be.) and thats why latency makes it such a pain. I am skeptical that they can fix that with a little extra work on the engine (if they can though, great job bungie, you've regained my respect)
What I want is a ping counter or something even in co-op, so we can tell who is lagging the game (or if its even ourselves). I dont have a clue why they removed the latency bar for campaign in halo 3.
