Subject: Is Bungie digging a hole?

The title in Halo: Reach greatly implies that it is a prequel to the Halo trilogy (not that it definitely will be). But is Bungie making trouble for themselves? The story of reach has been told before from several different points of views in two different types of media (Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo Wars). It's not like Bungie to retell a story told twice before. I'm not proposing that the time travel theory is real, but that if I were to put my money on it, it would for it to be a whole new story or primarily focused on online. If it is a prequel name like the title suggests thats fine with me but I think Bungie needs to move on from reach.

THE ZERO

uh halo wars never talks about the fall of reach its way before reach, and fall of reach mentions the 1st 15 minutes of the battle so how would a 15 minute game be huh?

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Halo Wars told about Reach? But ya, after this, they should either make a Halo game based on most of the books in one, or a brand new series.
I'm hoping for the latter.

Perception is everything.

No no no no! NO NO NO! NO!! PEOPLE ARE STUPID! Halo Wars=years before reach. Also, not everybody reads...and bungie can probably make the battle at reach a lot more epic.

Silly woman, bring me my baconz!

i doubt bungie uses shovels.

  • 06.20.2009 11:45 AM PDT

Without me, it's just "Aweso".

Halo Wars has nothing to do with Reach. However, First Strike does.

That's right. If Bungie wants to dig a hole, they shoot lasers out of their eyes and at the ground.

I don't think Bungie's "digging a hole", though. More Halo from the people who invented it sounds fine to me. There's still plenty left to tell, though even if Reach does follow the events of one of the books, seeing it come alive and being able to interact with the story is a whole different animal. All in all, it's far less risky than inevitable future endeavours will be, when the franchise is licensed to other developers.

or, as the banner suggests, it could be an entirely new story that coincides with the ones in the book.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

As others have pointed out, Halo Wars does not deal with Reach whatsoever, but rather, Harvest. We've never had any involvement with Reach via the games, and that is exactly why this game is going to be so monumentally awesome. I loved reading the novels, but I'm going to love playing it even more.

Besides, since when did reiteration mean "digging a hole"? Hundreds of franchises do this year after year and are still bolstering with wealth. Halo is a classic MS franchise now, and I have to admit, they've done a really good job of keeping it from turning it into a generic cash cow so far. Instead, it's a pretty unique and awesome cash cow.

its better diying with a smile than getting teabag

Why would they dig a hole if there are one step closer to world domination?

You did play Halo wars... Right?

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

They will not tell any stories that have been told before. There were many stories within the battle for Reach that were not told. i would imagine this game is one of those stories not told. Specifically, the battle over the generators for the MAC cannons and other side stories within.

Owners of the Katana: A place for those who have a Katana or over 1000GS in Halo 3.

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

I think it's a great idea to make Fall of Reach into a video game. And, yes, Bungie is digging a hole, but only because they need a place to store the giant slingshot. :P

Not really. We only got a little bit of the story on Reach in both Fall of Reach, First Strike, and Halo Wars. There were many Spartans on the ground, and we still don't know what happened to everything while Chief was on Halo.

  • 06.20.2009 3:53 PM PDT

[Enter extremely funny joke here]

Yes, they are digging a hole.

And filling it was awesomeness.

NO! The battle of Harvest was what Halo Wars was about. Halo Wars did not mention the battle of Reach 1 time. The battle of Harvest occured in 2525. The battle of Reach occured in 2552 (why does bungie have to be so mean to dyslexics?).

Lee Chadwick

I never read the books but, Halo Wars wasnt made by Bungie, adding halo wars into the topic of Halo: Reach is kind of stupid. I think its hard to say at this point if bungie is "digging a hole."

My bad. I typed that down on accident. Sheesh. You internet bully/nerds get touchy about anything and everything. How about you go back to Halo Wars and cry about Forge dying, and Ensemble closing, and then get bored once you realize the game sucks for being a casual P.O.S. with minimal replay value and bad path-finding. Then cry about typing "occurred" down wrong you dyslexic grammar violator.
