I want to be able to choose the environment, how to do this? i have an idea...

When you start up forge on Sandbox/Foundry map, you get to choose the environment. The screen is black and it asks you these questions:

1) What environment do u want?
a) desert
b) warehouse
c) rainforest
etc...
2) What kind of weather do u want?
a) normal
b) raining
c) thunderstorm
etc...

Then, after that. when u press x (or whatever), theres a list called environment, which lets you choose trees, rocks, etc...

I also want to be able to put any of the guns that are in the game on a map

That's what I want.

Bringing you lame jokes, social awkwardness and the occasional good idea since 2008

Dead bodies and blood splatters for infection maps, treas and stuff for other maps, rocks, ways to alter the map without it looking like you meant to because of a giant crate sitting in a doorway. And better ways to block doors, so you can keep them from being used instead of dealing with the people who will try to get past anyway. Like a door tool that places doors anywhere in walls, or removes doors and just leaves a wall.

i love the dead bodies and blood splatters idea

i think they could at least do the blood splatters, since there is purple blood on epitaph

A very, and I mean VERY, simple terrain editor. Raise, lower, and smooth. Changable brush sizes. We just choose Custom from the map selecting menu, choose a theme (like snow, desert, etc.) and boom, it just drops you onto a Flat cirlce the size of the sky-bubble on Sandbox.

Maybe just a very simple built in feature so if your hill gets past, say, a 45 degree angle (maybe higher, I don't know) It changes to a rockier texture. That way, we don't have the ability to paint on half a million textures, just to keep things simple.

After you are done and satisfied with your terrain, let the game go through about, say, a five to ten minute process of encoding and optomizing of the terrain, so it takes up less space, and makes it able to be played by others without the map in customs.

FOR ALL YOU LESS TECHNOLOGY OR MODDING COMFORTABLE PEOPLE, DON'T READ THESE NEXT 2 PARAGRAPHS, BUT CONTINUE ON AFTER THE WORD " END "

The way the terrain would be optomized, is that the game would create a Height map. (wiki it if you want to really go into details about what it is, but I will briefly describe it here.) A height map is basically a sinlge picture taken from an absolute top-down view of your terrain. Higher areas are given a lighter shade, and the lower areas given a darker shade. All the game would have to do is just recognize this height map, and any hill given a higher slope than 45 degrees is assigned that rock texture.

Every player in the customs party without the map would be sent this height-map, and the game would preload the terrain and objects (the objects the same way that Halo 3 works now) and they would be ready to go. This might take longer that what we have now, but I'm willing to sacrifice for what may be made with this kind of feature.

END END END

Then, you bring up your terrain in the normal forge mode and proceed to Place your objects how you like. But here is the real kicker, there is an object called a terrain-cutter (those of you who have modded games that use a mix of terrain and objects from say 3DS MAX, you know what I am talking about.) and what this terrain cutter does is simple.

It cuts terrain. You size it and position it like you want and press, say, B. And holy -blam-, it cuts a little portion out of the terrain, enabling you to make tunnles! but the bad thing about this is, you will have to go to great lengths to make none of the under-terrain visible, to negate any effects like say, the hall-of-mirrors. (again, PC game modders, you know what I am talking about.)

Maybe a little feature that raises the water level. you just press one button, and about ten feet off of the default ground level, you have water, that can be walked through. (you would have to take the liberty of placing death or regular map barriers.

Another thing that would be awesome, would be multiple custom power-ups of different colors. Each can be given thier own set of traits. This would be able to make class based maps a huge amount better.

These things alone would make options of making maps very unlimited, but still kepping things simple for those that don't want to spend weeks on their maps.

whew , that was tiring to type out!

Sorry if I confused any of those who may have been ambitious enough to read the Tech paragraphs, but I have years of modding experience in many different games like Quake, Star Wars Battlefront, and Unreal Tournament.

all i want in forge is the ability to put tons and tons of objects, rather than being restricted so much

Floodians whom I'm in a love square with:

camer guy 65
D A F T (daft_punk)
Sacred Flea

I watch this on loop when I'm bored.

Alter time of day, afternoon/midnight etc.
Gates with remote switches to open and close them.
Dead bodies.
Vehicle wreckage.
Scenery snapping so that objects are easier to place.
Geomerging.

I want every map to be...A sandbox.

I'd want to start up Forge, you get into the map editor. There's a circle the size of the SkyBubble covered in short grass. When you hit "x" you get the same kind of menu as in Halo 3. The different menus are:
Terrain: (chose terrain ex: grass, water, craig, lava, rocky, sand, etc.) You lay it down with a scaled paintbrush.
Scenery: (trees, rocks, etc.), Weapons (same as Halo 3) Placed down just like object in Halo 3 are.
Grenades/Powerups: (same as Halo 3).
Vehicles: (same as Halo 3), Miscellaneous (teleporters, gametype specifics, etc.).
Landscape: (Hight editor [raise/lower terrain) Paint brush like the terrain.
Extras: (destroyed vehicles [that stay in place forever], blood splatters [that stay in place forever], empty guns [that stay in place forever], etc.) Place like objects in Halo 3.
Objects: (sub menus will give you different options [Human, Covenant, Forerunner, Nature] the same idea as Halo 3 applies [boxes, explosive barrels, walls, etc.]). Place like objects in Halo 3.
Switches: Choose the type (Human, Covenant, Forerunner), then the type of switch (Bridge, Gate, etc), then place the Object activated by the switch, then place the switch operator itself.
Also I would like:
-Option to turn on and off object collision (interlocking without restart round).
-90% snap feature. So that a object can be placed directly upright with a press of a button.
-Regular colours. I want to be able to have my normal armour colours available in Forge (a great help to machinima makers).
-Weather (Sunny, cloudy, raining, snowing, etc.) and Time of Day (Sunrise, Sunset, Noon, etc.) This could help with machinima and also getting a good mood set for the map.
That's all I can think of now. I realize that this is pretty much impossible, but it's my wishlist. I can dream can't I? Peace.

I want an option for items to auto lock its very annoying in forge when you are trying to put a wall down on top of another wall because the slightest movement unbalances it and the item is movable from the base of it not the center

i would want to be able to put weather effects like the FX on the downloaded maps, but for weather, like rainy or night or day of lighning. i also wanna be able to spawn those cool shade turrets from halo 3's campaign and the troop hogs that hold like 10 people.

Cause FC2's editor was overcomplicated, unnecessarily so.
