There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

So, many of you know that Spartans are named after the ledgendry warriors of Sparta, about which the film 300 was made. Well, in Halo, Spartans take almost no fall damage, unless the hight is extremely large.

Now here's my point: another name for an ODST is Helljumper. However, they easily take fall damage and even die because of it. Does anyone find this slightly ironic?

By the way. I checked the search bar, but hell, using that thing is practically impossible for just about anything useful.

And if you already knew, don't bother flaming unless you want to prove your idiocy.

i guess i mean in halowars when you drop ODST they deal damage to enemy really close to them but they had to of upgraded the pod because in halo 2 delta halo some marines died on contact but now it doesn't seem like they die upon fall anymore.

They're not genetically enhanced supersoldiers. The reason they're called Helljumpers is because they drop into the middle of the battlefield, commonly known as "Hell".

that helped me i was wondering why in halo wars they where called that.

THE ZERO

the reason the halo "spartans" are called "spartans" because the spartans of sparta where usually trained at a young age like the halo "spartans" . the halo 3 spartans are genetically enhanced and their MONJLR armor that helps decease major falls

whereas the O.D.S.T. are called "helljumpers" because they are usually the first troops to go into an enemy territory. but they aren't in MONJLR armor so they take fall damage

I think people are missing the point.

I'm not an idiot. I know WHY ODST's take fall damage. I know WHY Spartans don't, or at least, not so much. I'm simply pointing out the ironic wordplay with the name 'Helljumpers'.

Try not to miss the point. It's like a sniper, take your time, aim carefully, and I'm sure you'll hit the spot.

Tonight, we dine in hell! With a helljumper.

While I do see your point, I just don't find it all that amusing to bother with. I do agree though.
