Subject: Fall Damage/Slow Regen/Etc.

Playing Halo: CE recently has made me wonder about how Reach is exactly going to play out.

Will there be fall damage? Will it once again take eight seconds (or even more) to recharge shields? Will we jump as high as we're all used to now? These are all factors that will more than likely be in Reach simply because of 'Canon'. We're not wearing MkVI armor, so more than likely we're not going to be as sturdy as we are in Halo 2/3, it wouldn't make any sense.

How will you respond to it? What do you want them to keep, or toss in the muck as far as gameplay is concerned?

Your'e a little squid. It makes you think about where your jumping. I think it adds strategy to the game.

Fall damage for a spartan doesn't really fit in. Especially since they could jump from a crashing pelican entering the orbit of the earth and most lived through it. Jumping 10 meters and losing half your shield is ridiculous. Fall damage ftl.

I think that the changes from ODST are there to get us used to what the gameplay will be like in the next Halo game (REACH). Quicker running (watch a Firefight vid), less jump height, and slower "shield" regeneration. And health packs. And fall damage. And no dual wielding. All features from Halo 1... and Reach was before Halo 1.

They only did that because they overpressurized their hydrostatic gel, which puts you at risk for a nitrogren embolism (bubbles in your blood, brain or organs which can kill you, it can happen from coming up from scuba diving too fast). So there was fall damage in H1 because the Chief had his hydrostatic gel at a safe level (while they may have some sort of upgrade to the gel layer in the Mk VI that doesn't put you at risk)

I agree that fall damage should be present in matchmaking, maybe there should be an option to disable it in custom games?

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

I think they should just continue on evolving from halo 3. I dont want to see anything return from Halo 1.

It totally makes sense that there's this dude that can survive a drop from orbit, and that same dude can't survive a collision with a damn mongoose. Or a couple punches to the face. Or 1 punch because he got hit in the back instead. That isn't ridiculous at all...

Fall damage makes the game play more interesting, it takes more thought when you want to go somewhere. You can't just see a battle going on and jump down from 1000 ft. You need to know the level and your surroundings to get there safely.

Fall damage will be awesome to have again, but only if they remember to deal no damage when you hit certain inclines!

...damn kids and your rock music...
