Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I'm sure you've all been following the details on Halo 3: ODST's gameplay as closely as I have. If you have been, you would notice that:

-The absence of dual wielding is returning
- Fall damage is returning
- The "Stamina" bar recharges slowly (its basically the ODST's shield)
- Health does not regenerate
- The ODSTs run faster than H2/3 Master Chief (at least in the Firefight vids)

Now, most of these things make sense realism-wise, but I think that Bungie brought these features (all from Halo 1) back in to the frontlines of Halo games to get fans used to what is to come. I believe that they are easing into a new style of gameplay for REACH, more similar to Halo 1 than Halo 2/3, and the way they are doing this is by changing things up in Halo 3: ODST.

You might be right. It's a good marketing strategy.

But I hope not. I love being able to jump dozens of metres and survive. That's why I don't enjoy CoD.

Maybe they could add a "no fall damage" option in customs.

I've definately thought of this (As seen in my previous thread)

You have to wonder. Depending on how far back they decide to bring the timeline as a Spartan, there may even be times in the beginning where we don't even have shields.

I definately think there's going to be a bit more of a measure of skill involved again if shields are going to regenerate slowly and fall damage returns as you're be more inclined to approach tactically as opposed to just running in (Heck, there's a reason I have so much more fun playing Halo: CE LANs than I do playing Halo 3 more often than not)

I think I'd prefer the Halo 2/3 health system without the health bar where you can take a few shots while the shields are down but that's it, but I certainly wouldn't mind having to find health packs again.

I'd like a hybrid of the health systems. You have more health, like in H1, and its visible on your HUD, going from blue to yellow to red. But I also think that it should regenerate, maybe 2x, 3x, or even 4x as slowly as the Halo 1 Shields.

I sure Hope Reach is like CE/ODST(at least from what I've seen).
-I hope dual wielding is gone it ruins the weapon set.
-Fall damage is good because it adds more of a strategy to the game.
-I liked the health system in Halo CE, in Halo 2/3 it felt like I had infinite retries because of recharging health. That makes everything easier in a bad way.
-The Halo CE shields added difficulty to the game in a good way. Although we could see stamina in Reach because if I remember correctly Mark IV armor had no shields.
-I liked the faster speed. and jumping.

This works. That way it'll seem a little less random, and weapons like Plasma pistols won't be completely useless for anything short of disabling vehicles and bringing down shields.

Also, I've always thought Halo could use a speed boost. Play a game like Unreal Tournament and go back to Halo 3, and you'll feel like you're playing in slow motion; I mean really, these are supposed to be the strongest, fastest humans in the world, why are they jogging everywhere?

O rly? I thought you moved the same speed you did in Halo 3: ODST's campaign, which is slower than the Halo 2 / 3 Spartans...

But you have to keep in mind: Will Halo: Reach cover the entire Halo: Fall of Reach book, or just the Reach battle? If it's just the battle, then you won't see an introduction to the Mark IV armor, just the Mark V (Halo: CE armor)

I'm not sure, but if you watched the Firefight vids that Staten was showing around, you'd notice how quickly they move around when he's in third person mode. Looks a lot quicker than in H3 (even when they're crouching).

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

The only thing I disagree with is dual-wielding. Nothing stopped them from doing it before, canonically, so removing it for Reach doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The presence of fall damage and absence of health regeneration makes canonical sense because earlier MJOLNIR suits did not have automatic biofoam injectors for wound sealant, and at least up to the Mk. V, we know that the MJOLNIR suits' hydrostatic gel needed to be manually pressurized by the Spartans to help alleviate some of the fall impact from their bodies. It is assumed that the Mk. VI's gel automatically does this, which would help bridge that gap...

But yeah, it makes sense, I suppose, but honestly, I don't really see it as that big of a change, and I'm confident that Dual-Wielding isn't going anywhere.

I don't think fall damage will be present in Reach because in Halo 2 and 3 had Man cannons and lifts that would take you to areas.... so if bungie doesn't include man cannons and lifts maybe fall damage?

I'm pretty sure that the Mk VI was upgraded with new features which allowed the suit to track two weapons at once (at least it seems that way in the H2 instruction manual), while the Mk V could only track one at a time. Its fine like this in novels or RTS games, where the player doesnt need to worry about tracking their ammo, but I doubt that both weapons' ammo would be tracked at the same time in REACH if dual wielding returns.

I hope it doesnt return as I feel it butchers the weapons sandbox.

They could probably add fall damage to more vertial falls, while more horizontal falls (propelled through the air) don't affect you.

Fact 2: European guys are hotter

I guess I can understand if you don't want to make out with guys in the US if they're so ugly, you should just say so though.

I really hope so. From what i've seen MLG Cheehwawa seems to have spot on speculations.

They don't lift you that high. Maybe the top of the gravlift height (about 25 feet) would be where fall damage starts happening. If you crouch at the right time, no fall damage occurs. If you jump from higher than 25 feet, but crouch, you recieve less fall damage (going up progressively as the fall height does).

Don't know about ODST.Looks a lot quicker than in H3 (even when they're crouching).Well, that explains it. H2/H3 only looks slower because of the even more awkward first person field of view.

I doubt that it would span the events of the entire book, that would make for a very loose story and inconsistent gameplay...

Maybe reducing fall damage from high areas by adding a "Press RB to roll" right before you hit the ground. And i'm not talking about a long 5 seconds, I'm talking about split second moves.

You may be on to something. It does seem like it could be a subtle transition. But my friend and I were talking and came to some pretty neat conclusions.

Since it is on Reach, there are other Spartans, obviously. If keeping with the books, it would be really cool to choose a spartan included in the book that has special traits. Such as faster reload rates for Linda. Or Mike being able to use the lock-on ability with the rocket launcher. Or to create your own Spartan all together. But of course the latter would clash with strict fiction of the Halo world.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Actually in Halo 1 you run faster than you do in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It's very noticable in Halo 1.

NO!
Maybe the mood of the game but not the gameplay. Halo 1 was ok for it's time but it's not nearly as fast paced and actiony as Halo 2 or 3.
