I, personally, have been waiting for an open-world style game of halo since halo 1. this is a huge leap in the style of gameplay for the halo series if you know it or not, and i think it is for the better, because the linear gameplay of the levels of the previous games, although frakin amazingly epic and fun, was becoming dry and old.

i.e.
- start off
- get use to the environment
- get two starting weapons (sometimes one)
- middle
- few battles with interludes between each
- climax
- a large scale battle (or a plot twist)
- ending
- chief conquers the enemies in the level and moves on

Classic story layout

But with the the open world you are in control of what happens and how it happens.

my point is.... i think we are about to see a giant change in the up coming non-halo bungie titles..... if their open-world style is a huge hit. they might switch to that style.........

its possible because bungie switch from producing RTS' to FPS'...... so we might see more open-world FPS' that are not halo related in the next........ coming years

I know. It's one of the best Halo's to date.

Definitely, it's at least in the top 5.

This is not a new idea, there are already games like this coming out, like Borderlands. While it is a fresh idea for Bungie to switch to, and will improve gameplay, they are by no means a pioneer in the genre. There are games which combine an FPS viewpoint with open world exploration and RPG-like stat systems, such as Fallout.

What are we supposed to discuss?
