Subject: The game needs jump and roll

I'm a 15 year old stuck in the middle of nowhere. Machinima director, screenplay writer, novelist, jazz musician, and Photoshop junkie.

How many times has this happened to you.
UH-OH! there's a grenade. it goes off in 2 and a half seconds the only thing you can do is try to walk away from it. BAM!!! Your dead.

UH-OH! There's a ghost coming your way its going to run you over. You have 1 second to react!
You can try to run out of the way or jump, but you might end up jumping to early and end up crashing down on top of it. SPLAT!!! your dead.

These situations could be stopped if you had the option to jump and roll. Did you know that in order to join the American armed services you have to learn how to jump and roll to the left right front and back?

This is something that I would really like to see in the game. Anybody else agree?

No, not really. I think the game mechanics are fine how they are.

Consider how heavy and susceptible to damage that armor is by rolling. It's a good idea with fairly light armor, but with really heavy and expensive armor like that, it's not going to happen.

Oh, and I'm fairly certain you can shoot grenades to detonate them before they reach you.

The Marines jump away from you when you are about to run over them with a vehicle. The reason they do it is because they are not a super soldier that can jump over 4 to 5 feet. Neither is the Rookie, Dutch, Buck, Dare, or Mickey.

I'd like to see something where, say a Vehicle is bearing down on you at high speed, you would get a split second chance to do a totally Badass move to stop it. like your Spartan Turning and grabbing the front of the Hog, throwing to the side. or at least have a last-second chance to board the vehicle.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

FINALLY! I can actually do a barrel roll when someone tells me to! :D

Jump and roll doesn't work well in a first person shooter. All of the games with those effects are third person games.

People Die..But Spartans Live Forever!

Delta Squad X

Well in the books..MC can jump and roll and dodge and do everything he wants to..and his armor is way heavier than ODST armor..so i would say it would be efficient to jump and roll...

its not the easyest thing ramming with the ghost i mean half the time they will simply jump over you unless caught off guard which hardely ever happens =/

No the game is fine how it is, i don't think jump and roll is needed. For all of those situations they can be avoided without it, only new people to the game would need a jump and roll for those situations.

"It is impossible to prepare for and prevent a war at the same time"

pay more attention and time your jumps to avoid those kinds of things. Thats a pretty simple fix

You can't really jump 5 feet straight up when you are a puny ODST. They should have a jump and roll, but they probably won't.

If you wanna roll, go play gears.

Not really it might be useful but not so good in a first person perspective

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Maybe not a jump and roll kind of thing, but maybe a strafe. Maybe leep a few yards right, left, forward, or backward.

that could work too I mean its not much of a problem in Reach cause a Spartan can jump high enough, but you should also consider the point about the grenade. ODSTs cannot jump high enough the only thing they CAN do is jump and roll or strafe, and an ODST cant take a a blast from a greande as hard as a Spartan can.

I would rather have prone than this, lying flat as a ghost speeds over you would be cool.
But to be honest, I think it's fine like it is

Jumping away, and strafing is all you need to get away from almost anything.

Rolling in halo will feel like rolling in GTA 4.

Useless.

You should at least be able to dive. And you are not in a serious combat situation in GTA4
