Subject: A Safehouse Of Sorts?

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

Huh? I was talking about health, not guns. Two Betrayals was linear but still wide open.

well marines were in new mambasa when the slipspace occured so dead marines will probbaly be in the city . some marine outposts ( ammo depots ) etc...

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

Maybe you will reach a military barracks or something, I don't know. It would be pretty cool to have a safehouse of weapons. Almost like on the last level "The Maw" on Halo1, where there was a lot rocket ammo. :)

I'm not suggesting a GTA-Halo hybrid here(OMG only one more Warthog can fit in my parking space!), simply a more convienent way for guns and ammo.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Health, guns, most of the time they were in the same place. Yes the level was wide open at some points, but there wasn't many things hiding on the outskirts except maybe a flood ambush.

By "Outskirts" I meant the Halo 2 level. An area like it that could function as a place to save and get ammo.

I loved when they dropped weapons in drop pods like Halo 2.
Yes, that is always cool, but it wouldn't make sense, I mean couldn't they just evac the Rookie to a larger UNSC force? Or directly to the beacons?

Well, in Halo 2, the Chief had to hike all the way through the levels Delta Halo and Regret, even though Pelicans would drop off ammo, and the Arbiter and his Elites had to take the lift all the way to the Library in Quarantine Zone, even though they were being followed by an allied Phantom, and a Phantom flies over in the beginning of the level..

Going different ways could enable you to skip battles, or fight new ones. Like after you come out of the tunnel in Final Run, you could go left, or go right and face a hoard of Flood before they get dwindled by the Covies.

And that was stupid yes? I mean it's certainly possible, it just doesn't make sense.

Just as every cop is a criminal,
And all the sinners saints,
As heads is tails, just call me lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint.

Bow chicka honk honk.

There's probably plenty of gear left lying around from the battles of Halo 2 (I personally hope we find the remains of the original Scarab). The Marines had field bases throughout the city, and weapons caches were fairly common. I doubt it will be much of a problem.

I agree, finding the original scarab would be pretty cool.

The UNSC will likely drop ammo and guns like in Halo 3.

Or you will find corpses and take the ammo from them...just a thought.
Or you could read why I think that won't happen at least often.

you never said it wouldn't happen often.

I say Bungie will make you hunt for ammo. You would already have to do that for health packs. Plus it would add more of a challenge to its gameplay. I can't see safe houses in the game. I believe there will be weapon caches and dead bodies where you will find ammo.
A challenge is one thing, but I like to have a steady flow of ammo. Not having to replenish by searching after a few patrols.

Well I'm saying it wouldn't be hard to find ammo. I mean eventually you will have to pick up a covie weapon until you do but there will never be a steady flow of ammo. It's now open world and i believe Bungie will expect you to survive on your own.

"It is impossible to prepare for and prevent a war at the same time"
-Albert Einstein

there might be ammo dispensers kinda like the armory in the first level of halo 2 and similar to the health dispensers that we know of from ODST

Exactly, so why wouldn't the ones from Halo 2 be there too? Also, Firefight maps are directly taken from Campaign, so they easily could appear in campaign.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

Where in God's name did you find that Concept Art? I can't find it on Bnet anywhere, hehe.

Well, you're not really ever expected to have to survive completely alone. I mean you have the SI helping you, why can't he point you in the way for ammo?

That loks like a weapons facility to me you might be right I dunno

  • 06.21.2009 1:27 PM PDT

That would be sweet. I would not mind a safehouse of sorts or maybe some kind of area to rest in. I think probably weapons and ammo will respawn after a certain amount of time so you never have to worry about running out.

  • 06.21.2009 1:27 PM PDT

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

Bro It is going to have a single ending, and isn't open ended.

This is a free roaming game, and I can see there being many ways to get weapons. Although I do not mind Covie weapons at all. Safehouse is a good idea but it may feel too L4Dish.

It was pointed out that room is probably the room on board the UNSC ship in the opening scene. It looks similar, but none the less, my idea simply has no real picture proof now. :(

Open ended doesn't mean endings. It means in game world.

Yes the SI helps you with direction and a whole other bunch of stuff. Maybe he can, maybe he can't. The point of the matter I'm trying to get to is I don't believe ammo will be handed to you as you go through the game, which will in turn let you make wise choices on deciding what weapon you will take and what enemies to use that weapon on.

I see that, and all I'm saying is that I don't believe there will be just pre-set caches, rather a definite place.
