but the games becoming "less halo" with every game. halo 1 took skill, but still had some tweaks, halo 2 took a little less skill and still needed some tweeks, halo 3 took less skill than 2, and needs some tweaks.

The series has been pointing to the casual with each game. Im saying that with such a large fanbase that knows the game now, its time to start moving in the other direction.

I can see where you're coming from, but the point i'm trying to make is that it doesn't need to move in any direction, it's fine as it is.

EDIT: p.s. i explained it to you in every single comment, but like i said. YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN UNTIL YOU GET BETTER AT THE GAME, thats what i implied when i said "im a hardcore gamer and you're not"

Why won't I understand you? if a skill system works, it would have to work at every level, not just the "hardcore" high ranks

so basically, you think that if bungie amped up the skill a bit, with an improved ranking system (so that youre actually paired with people of similar skill), they would lose millions of fans.

No, i think that making the game harder by removing things would make the game less Halo.
I've got nothing against improved skill system, but I haven't found a game with one that works to date, and there isn't anything overly wrong with Halo's. But then again, I play mainly social, so I wouldn't know too much about that.

um, you were talking to me, not him.

I understand what you are talking about, but Halo 3 is so diverse that if you don't like it's default fashion, im sure you can adjust it to your own liking.

i can understand that, but theres no point in making a game that stays the same. if people dont like reach as much as 3, then they can keep playing 3. The only reason i play 3 over CE online and halo 2 is because, CE is laggy and disorganized online, for number 2, my copy cant play online anymore. And plus, im a sucker for new versions of infection(greatest gametype ever) and mongoose snipers on backburner.

there really is no point in making another game which appeals to even more casual gamers

They don't need to appeal to more casual gamers, just accomadate the ones they already have

again, what skill. Skill is relative to your opinion.
and yes, they would, if they wen't to the extent you are considering.

In order to make this game HARDCORE, they would have to do a lot more than TWEAK the gameplay.
All those casual players are ruining the game. I don't understand how you can have fun if you suck as bad as most Halo 3 players do. Halo 3 gives almost no advantage to people who can aim better, except for a few weapons. Everything is way to easy to use.

If they made all weapons balanced, gave better people the advantage and had a better ranking system Halo Reach would be great.

Every weapon is PERFECTLY balanced. that's why you hate it so much. you can't just pick up a weapon and call yourself the master of death and destruction because of your "skill" anymore.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the game for you, being a casual gamer and all.
Also, if people are better, they don't need an advantage, that's what being better means. You always have the advantage.

1. a game is supposed to be to the liking of its fan base, not the company specifically.

2. bungie has such an unskilled noobirific fanbase that halo 3 became a noob friendly game.

HALO REACH NEEDS TO TAKE SKILL, with each new halo game, the game took less skill. and anyone who says its the opposite is stupid.

Fail, first off halo 2 and halo 1 as way easier to beat then halo 3.

Halo 1:

Hide behind a rock in the middle of a fight on legendary, they act like you were never there.

there's no way of really explaining this unless you already understand.

Rockets against battle rife, lets say they are both gods at the game, the best two players in the game. ROCKETS WILL WIN.

EDIT: got rid of wall of text, dont wany anyone misreading it and then -blam!-ing for an hour.

I agree with the op, their shouldnt be anything massive that totaly alters gameplay. I just want to see some new guns, a couple new features, and a good campaign. But i dont want to see the br in halo reach though, its just too overused, and its one of the most boring weapons in halo too.

The gameplay should stay the same, keep the melle lunge, but just tweak some stuff to make it less overpowered.

I just want to see some tweaks, new weapons and vehicles. Not anything huge like taking out auto aim or things like that.

1. were obviously talking about multiplayer.

2. i dare you to try and halo the halo 3 legendary campaign and then halo 2s, you will spend at least 3 hours on the first level.

Thats exactly what i mean. dont take out those things completely, just tweak them so they arent so overpowering. Lunge is almost the sword lunge, turn it down a bit. Aim assist is extremely annoying when someones walks in front of you, and then your cursor follows them instead of your original target. Amp up the movement speed a bit. Fix the melee to something that works, servers might even fix that.

just tons of tiny things like that could make it a ten in my books.

I could trust Bungie to make the campaign right--they've done it right so far, and even put some epic moments in Halo 3 like Forward Unto Dawn coming down and that covenant ship on Tsavo Highway flying overhead.

But I can't say the same about multiplayer. It took them ages to even get Team Snipers up even after people SCREAMED for it, and it wasn't just a small group of people.

Then, they take awesome concepts like Heavies and Covies and ruin them by putting over 9000 lasers on a heavy match, which renders all vehicles useless, and on Covies they don't even take full advantage of the covie weapon set OR vehicles...wtf?

At least Bungie do update the playlists you get to choose from. The majority of games don't have anything beyond basic team deathmatch/flag/bomb games, no variation.
I agree with you on the whole Heavies and Covies thing, but thats not really gameplay (like i was talking about in the origonal post) thats balancing, and I don't really want to go too off topic.
