Halo:reach will have enemies, and a lot of enemies we have seen. Heres just my idea/theory of what will be there, how they will behave, what will set them apart, what will make you cry in fear and what will make you laugh or not care.
Grunts
General-Low level or danger, Usaully high Number.
Used For-Support, Suicide missions, turret use, grenade use, FRG use
Types_
Minor-Pretty slow, weaker, slower firing rate. Mostly only uses Plasma Pistols, low grenade use.
Mayor-Faster, Stronger, Good trigger finger, Uses all types of guns
Spec Ops-Works in groups more, a lot smarter, faster, can use better guns, better grenade throwing. Like iN Halo:CE these guys throw a lot of nades, and they do it well.
Ultra-Extremely powerful armor wise, these are grunts you might want to watch out for. They are the strongest
(Sub Classes) Heavy, Stealth.
Jackal
General-Covenant Scouts, fast, agile, shielded. A good threat level, but not dangerous alone or unshielded
Used For-Scouting, Flanking, Shield Walls
Types_
Minor-A little slower, shields are weaker, and health is weaker. Only uses Plasma Pistols and sometimes Plasma Rifles.
Mayors-Faster Jackals, 20% more powerful shields, normal health. Can use Carbines as well as PR's and PP's. Also there shields recharge faster, and are smarter about dodging things.
Sniper-Unshielded and the weakest, however they have pin point accuracy and senses.
Guard-Jackal guards are the strongest. They are slow but they have super shields. Able to withstand light explosives (unlike other jackal shields) Usaully used to guard important Elites or Prophets. (Pretty much new)
Hunters
General-Walking tanks, heavy weapons, armor, very powerful.
Used For-Taking out vehicles, Spartans and groups of Humans/Enemies
Types_
Anti Personal-Uses the Halo3 style gun. Are a little faster, but a little weaker. Also have full body armor.
Anti Vehicle-Uses the Halo1 style FRG, except a slight homing. These hunters are slow but very powerful, mainly because they have to be (againtst vehicles). Lower armor, but stronger armor.
Brutes
General-Pack animals, Brutes rarely work alone, They are like grunts in the way they work. Alone not so powerful, in groups very very deadly.
Used For-Various things, missions. All Purpose soldiers, mostly used in less important missions or suicide missions.
Types_
Minor-The slower and dumber of Brutes. They have no shields, use light weapons, slow grenade use. Beserk a lot (making them easier sometimes)
Mayor-Mayors are the same as Minors except they have armor, and of course smarter.
Captain-Captains are a lot like Halo3's Captains deadly, and ruthless. Captains are heavily armored and usaully carry Brute shots. Unlike Halo3 brutes they throw Spike grenades fast and deadly.
Chieftain-Rare, but the deadliest of Brutes. They are a lot smarter and cunning then in Halo3 but look pretty much the same. They get 10-15 seconds of "God" powers. Come in 3 types
Fuel Rod
Hammer (Highest of chieftains)
Turret
Elites
General-The primary soldiers of the Covenant. They are like Lions, alone or in a team they are deadly. They are smart, fast, and when you see them you better have a good plan, or a really good weapon. They board vehicles like Spartans can, they are stealthy, amazing soldiers.
Used for-Anything.
Types_
Minor-Only use small weapons, no grenade use, lower shields. Do not carry swords.
Mayor-Mayors are stronger, faster Elites. Use limited grenades. Board vehicles, and sometimes will use "Active Camo" but rare. Use Carbines as well as Plasma Rifles and Needlers. No swords
Spec Ops-Armor wise are the same as Mayors, yet are a lot smarter! Use grenades just like Halo:1 elites did on "The Maw" (too much and perfect) They work in groups, usaully only use Plasma Rifles, no sword use.
Ultra-Ultras are very rare, like Halo2 they have super strong armor, able to withstand sniper rifle shots (around 3-6 to the head) are very smart. Usaully work alone and just like Halo2 Ultras they will pull out swords and rip apart almost everything. Ultras will be able to take on vehicles by them selves. Watch out.
Zealots-Of course Halo:Reach has to have our good old Gold Armored Sword Wielding elite. Zealots only use energy swords and grenades (rarely) they have the most armor, and are the fastest. Zealots might not be as deadly as Ultras at some points but when a Zealot and you are face to face you can bet your ass you will RUN IN FEAR.
