Subject: Spartan III's

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

So as some of you know, the Spartan-II program was a major sucess. But it was costly, unethical and the genetic information was hard to find perfect matches, meaning there weren't enough candidates for more Spartans. So, after the Spartan-II program, the Spartan-III program was started up by Colonel James Ackerson.

So basically, the Spartan-III's were designed to be better trained, cheaper and expendable. This meant they weren't as invincible as the Spartan-II's.

Anyways, Spartan-III's would be trained in companies of 300 to 330 at a time. Then sent on suicide missions to basically, buy time for against the covenant.
(This brings up an interesting point, the Sierra 320, and Sierra 259. If they are Spartan-III's, it makes perfect sense that their numbers are so high. Because, there would be around 330 Spartan-III's built at a time, meaning, 320, and 259 makes perfect sense.)
[Just that I would add that]

So with this in mind, the "Spartans" of this game could be Spartan-III's, not Spartan-II's. Maybe some of these Spartans could be from Gamma company. Who knows. I haven't bothered to look into all of this, all this canon and stuff. Anyways, just a theory I came up with.

What do you guys think?

I think........... why would you post something talking about canon stuff if you didnt look into it?

-You look like you could suck a golf ball through a waterhose.

If I remember correctly, I don't think the SPARTAN-III's were ever on Reach. But I may be wrong.

I'm not sure if they got called to reach or not. But who knows.

(Also I looked a little bit into the canon, but, it is just a theory. Bungie doesn't have to follow all the canon that is out there right now. They can make stuff up as they go.)

So, Gamma company received deployment orders only a few weeks after the First battle of Reach. It isn't specifically said were the went. But it is said that they deployed FROM Onyx. 15 spartans stayed on Onyx, all of the others of the 330 left to go somewhere.

I'm thinking most likely, Reach.

I don't think anyone in Gamma ever left Onyx once they got there.
The planet was activated in the middle of their training.

But since I am human, I am good and bad as well. But I try my hardest to stay good. And some of the things I do and say may be bad. Or just not too good, but I do try.

So with that said I dont fault you. I mean your only human, good or bad. But I also dont respect you, and I dont care if thats good or bad haha.

-blam!- if you understand me.
I love being misunderstood.

S-IIIs put a letter (by company) in front of their number so if this was true td be G259 and G320

True, but you never know. They might still refer to themselves as Spartans over the radio. (Meaning they would refer to themselves as 'Sierra 259')

I'm not trying to heavily defend my theory or anything, I'm just trying to see what you all think. If it is reasonable to assume that the Spartans may refer to themselves as 'Seirra 259' or 'Seirra 320', even though they are a part of the Gamma company, then yeah, I will use it to defend my theory.

Afterall, Master Chief has reffered to himself, or has been called (over Radio, or whatever): Master Cheif, Spartan 117, Sierra 117, etc.

Then I can assume that maybe these Spartan III's from Gamma company, will also refer to themselves with different names, like : Sierra 259, Spartan 259, Nova/Noble 1, Spartan G259.

Oh. I must have missed that part and thought they all died, lol.

yea its possible but we really cant know anything for sure till bungie gives us another trailer besides this teaser thats caused tons of crazy ideas (ex:time travel rofl)

LOL, yeah. I just have been thinking about this stuff for the past day. Spartan-III's fit the bill pretty well. Around 330 being made. It fits the 'Sierra 259' and 'Sierra 320' problem.
Other then that, Gamma company was deployed from Onyx (to I don't know where) only a few weeks after the first battle of Reach.

This makes sense too, since Half of Reach is basically in Ruins in the trailer. (Leading me to believe that in the trailer, it wasn't the first time Reach encountered a Covenant attack.)

it is possible that they are spartan III from gamma as there training ended around the same time as the fall of reach. kelly was on reach and her and dr hasley were on onyx within a few weeks after leaving reach. i dont know the exact time line but it due believe that this theory is probably one of the smarter ones.

  • 06.21.2009 10:40 PM PDT

Would be cool if they were S3's
I'd love to see their armor in-game =)

  • 06.21.2009 11:03 PM PDT

The only thing is the Spartan III's call signals used letters and numbers if you look it up, I don't remember the call signs. And in the book it tells where all the Spartans go....and die lol. I don't have my Ghosts of Onyx book but I'd look up what year the Spartan III project was started. It was probably a good number of years after the fall of Reach.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

The majority of Gamma was not on Onyx during the incident there. The S-II's present were those that were competing in the top honors competition. I don't recall them actually saying where the rest of Gamma was, but the incident on Onyx happened a few months after the attack on Reach so if the writers wanted to get creative they are more than able to do so.

Personallly I would doubt the presence of S-III's on two accounts. One, they were "manufactured" for the sole purpose of taking on high-priority Covenant targets, typically outposts or shipyards, they are not a reactionary force such as ODST's or the Spartan II's. Two, Onyx was off the grid, the rest of the UNSC had no knowledge of what the planet was being used for, Halsey only found it because she's brilliant. As such the sole task of those stationed on Onyx was the training of the S-III's, it is doubtful they would "get the memo" in the first place that Reach was being ripped a new one.

  • 06.22.2009 1:05 AM PDT

Gamma company shipped out before the Onyx incident; to where we don't know. I think it's likely we play as the IIIs. Very likely. Perhaps with an Active camo system akin to Halo 2's.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

The only remaining Spartan-IIIs are the Gamma Company Spartan-IIIs, who are at present time ages 12-15 and are currently undergoing forced puberty. It is shown in the novel that at least one boy was even having trouble with his voice cracking. That contradicts what we are shown in the teaser.

Additionally, Spartan-IIIs identify themselves with their Company letter. If they were Spartan-IIIs, they would have to be Gamma Company Spartan-IIIs, which means that they would have identified themselves as Sierra-G259 and Sierra-G320.

I heard spartan 3's can go super saiyan.

  • 06.22.2009 4:00 AM PDT

Kyle

It would be impossible for the spartan III's to be a part of the battle to save reach, because Reach is a prequel to all the halo games, Spartan III's were not trained til after the fall of reach and also after the finding of the first halo. So most likely you'll be playing as spartan II's and also Spartan I's seeing that there are some left, if you follow the storyline created by Halo wars as long as the entire book series.

Man 1: Hey that's a nice side arm... what's it called?

Man 2: I don't know what it's called... I just know the sound it makes when it takes a mans life

Halo wars is non-canon though, so any evidence given may be false.

The books are canon and therefore any evidence in there is true

Halo wars is set in 2531. You had to fight hunters and flood in 2531? Plausible but on that scale? I don't think so. Hunters were encountered in 2531 but the witnesses died in space.

Hunters weren't first (officially) encountered until 2552 (unoficially they were encountered in 2537 but during operation prometheus) according to the fall of reach where master chief and his team of spartans had to fight them on sigma octanus IV.

And no one even knew of the flood until the halo event

Spartan III's would refer to their company letter. The "Sierra" designation is a callsign for Spartan II's not Spartans in general.

Also Halo Wars should not be relied on as canon, it may or may not be accepted as canon.

IM A LEGIT 16

I don't remember it myself, but you said Gamma Company left Onyx a few weeks after the Battle of Reach?

If so, then Reach would be long gone by then, since it was heavily occupied and mostly glassed after a week. The whole reason for not completely glassing Reach was also gone.

The figures in the banner are wearing Mjolinor armour, not SPI. Blow it up, it's easy to tell.

No SIIIs were on Reach, it isn' the kind of mission they are used for, how will they survive the Covenant ships occupying it, etc etc etc.

I personally think the numbers are from the pool of candidates.
There weren't 117 Spartans, but the Master Chief is called Spartan (or Sierra or John) 117. There could have been at least 320 cadidates for the Spartan II project.

  • 06.22.2009 6:10 AM PDT

OMG... pokey has moved from atlas to the reach fourm! At least he isint flaming anything.
jk
this is accueally a good theory provided that spartain3s were at reach and for some odd reason this specific company didint die so one could have a decently sized campeign before the whole squad dies.

Although possible, I am lead to believe that the game will be baced around spartain IIs

Agreed with all of this ^

There was 150 candidates if I remember correctly, don't have Fall of Reach with me at the moment so I may be wrong.
