I'd love that idea. But that Yoshi thing makes you seem like you're "drunk..."

Hey the slayer you banned my old account awhile ago :D
and back on topic......
that would be epic man.

The controls could be similar to a hornet.

You could control it I guess by using its attennae as reigns with one hand, and hold your gun with the other.

Or if you want to get really fictional:

The UNSC captured a drone and after disection realized that its body could be controlled with electrical signals.

All ground forces were issued a small device that when implanted into the base of the drones skull, would give the soldier full control over its body. Riding the drone would be like operating a segway.

IE: Lean in the direction you want to go, etc.

I'm like a rock. Hard, lazy, hopeless, and charismatic/boring.

I'm perfect, you're not. Can you handle that? I think I'll manage.

REDACTED!- means its not going to happen.

I could see it as a jet pack and when you are done with stab it.

On Waypoint I'm rocketFox;

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

This idea has both things I look for in a good idea.

It's both fly and dope.

I have to agree, this is a pretty sick idea.
So would you be able to use their needlers/plasma pistol as the vehicle's weapon?

  • 06.22.2009 4:34 PM PDT

Sounds extreme. I never noticed they lifted people up heh.

also you quit Bungle :(

I just happened upon this thread but a moment ago but I think this just might be one of the greatest moments in the Halo 3 ODST forum.

Given that the Yan'me (Drones) communicate by rubbing their wings together to produce a high-pitched sound, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for a resourceful UNSC soldier to be able to attract a Yan'me by replaying that sound, then mounting it when it was within range.

This could be an easter egg! There would be hidden drones that are like the ghosts on halo in halo 3. They would be hidden also near a brute pimptain

This is serious, wouldn't riding a Drone be SiCK?

You, my good sir, are a genius. A true visionary.

Quick question; How drunk are you right now?

Drunk on Game Fuel maybe, otherwise no.

... You might want to call Poison Control, cause that stuff is toxic past it's expiration date >_>

Well, I would like to see it be more of a 'permanent' vehicle. Not really just a bonus feature....

Though, it could open up new achievements and challenges. Like how that one Vidmaster annual achievement worked with the four Ghosts.

Someone was wondering if the Drone's Plasma Pistols should be a sort of side gun/turret deal. I don't think so. I think when you capture the Drone it more than likely would drop its weapon. Would be for the safety of the Rookie/driver/pilot and would make the game more 'balanced'.

I still want to ride a Grunt. It would be awesome. Grunt versus Drone.

*Jumps on drones back, smashes fist into back of drones brain, suddenly learns how to control drone, flys around in total badass-ness*

that would look...so......COOOOL!

; >

Your topic is varied. :) The drone could have been made into more of a ground based attack type or possibly a vehicle as you have metioned.

Im thinking Natal and Halo Reah more than ODST. Maybe rip its wings out right when your where you can land... :)

We can has ride-able Queen Drones? :D

  • 06.22.2009 6:13 PM PDT

Glory to Jesus Christ

Drones wouldn't let you ride them.

The Field Guide says that drones are intelligent and have high morale:

They always travel in groups of four or more, are well disciplined, and extremely aggressive. Drones are best described as irregular troopstheir high morale and fierceness may be biochemical in nature.

Having high morale means that they are eager to and have a high spirit of fighting for the Covenant, likely for religious reasons. They would not willingly cooperate with the enemy under any circumstances, even under the threat of death (take for example the Grunts, who in their zeal will sometimes activate plasma grenades and go kamikaze, why would drones be any less zealous if they have such a high morale?). The fact they have a high intelligence shows that they wouldn't be that easy to control.

Also, just because a Drone can pick up a Marine for a few seconds doesn't mean that could support a heavily equipped ODST for extended periods of time.
