Which would be the best way to prepare for Halo 3: ODST? I have listed several with reasons why they could be best.

Halo: Combat Evolved
In Halo, you have weaker, slower shields and a health system. This is similar to ODST's health and stamina system. You also can take fall damage, unlike later Halo games but similar to ODST. The AR in Halo is like the SMG in ODST with a high ROF and 60 rounds. The M6D is very similar in function to ODST's M6C/SOCOM. And rounding off the list is a lack of BR in Halo and running slower and jumping lower than later Halo games.

Halo 3
In Halo 3, we see enemies and weapons closest to how they will be represented in ODST. The SMG is present along with many other weapons that have been upgraded since the early days of Halo. Enemy classes will likely be little changed from Halo 3 to ODST.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare
CoD4 puts Halo players into an unfamiliar situation, No shields, Enemies who are just as deadly as you, and the ability to get absolutely dominated by stupid mistakes. ODST will drop Halo players into similar situations, including urban combat with little or no team support, a lack of shields to protect them, relying on accurate fire rather than blind spraying, and removing the feeling of being an invincible one man army.

Books and Forums
The Halo books can offer a more realistic tactical approach to the situations we may encounter. Spartans and Marines in the books often dispay strategies that could be useful to the situations in ODST. The Forums are also a place where tactics and ideas are shared, some better than others.

Just post your ideas for this one.

Halo CE is the closest thing to this game, but I would rather spend my time playing Marathon.

Good day. I'm an active and fairly enthusiastic member of the Bungie fan-base and pride myself on many qualities. If you want to send me a PM, go right ahead. No I won't spam your inbox with group invites, I will respond in the best way possible. Thank you, and as I had opened, I'll close - good day.

I enjoy playing Halo 2, the metropolis level and using mostly the SMG and such. It does give it an ODST feel, even though youre fighting elites, however it takes a bajillion bashes to kill an elite, so its like the brutes

Flaming in threads is more of an annoyance, but I can't stand in-game flaming. If I wanted to scrape my ear off with a knife, I would've done it already.

I voted for Halo CE, but now that I think of it, maybe Halo 2 would actually be better for it. Mainly because it starts in New Mombasa, and since we get to explore all of the city in ODST, (I think) then maybe we will get to see some areas that we've been in in Halo 2. Also, Halo 2 was the hardest game of the three, and you really had to be tactical on Legendary, otherwise you were screwed, much like how ODST is looking to be.

Halo 2. That game was and still is awesome.

Although, I am very likely going to get Halo PC soon.
