I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

In ODST it was always going to be Brutes? The elites were being pushed out of the covenant well before Regret jumped space. That said there should be some elites but to my knowledge, the elites are being shadowed my a move by the prophets, that will replace the brutes with the elites.
It was explained away by Bungie, but it makes no sense whatsoever. There is no way that there would be no Elites present in Mombasa, literally moments after the Chief left. There's no way they got pushed out by then, and the Brutes got their own ranks set up (the flashback missions happen right after Regret jumps to slipspace).

Regret no doubt sent a message to the other prophets that he was going to leave earth and then Truth sent the brutes as soon as he heard
it would take atleast a week for Brutes to even arrive at Earth, not an hour.

The only way the Covenant could have arrived in hours was if they were on a Forerunner ship. Regret arrived on Earth and he had no idea it was our homeworld, so there's no way Regret would have had some sort of backup plan incase he and the rest of the surviving ships from the Unyielding Hierophant had to leave...

And like I said, the Brutes couldn't have arrived in less than 6 hours through slipspace, it's impossible due to the established cannon.

"From the Beginning, you know the end" kinda tells us that it's a prequal

See i've thought about this.

I believe that it means this:

Halo CE you start at Reach. Go off on your adventures, and ultimately finish at the end of Halo 3 drifiting in space. From the beggining (Reach) you know the end (back to Reach).

I think Reach is the start and the end.

reach was a halo?
what?

two identical planets?
you HAVE noticed that Bungie made 3 identical Halos (the rings, not games). from off of them, they look the exact same.
from on them, they are compleatly different.
the only thing i can say to explain it is:
Covenant glassed reach. it might be some other planet they glassed. those crop circles are holy symbols.
plus, you cant mention John's buddies then not have them in a game.

why was the jump between earth and delta halo pretty much instant

I have no signature... exept for this one...

Just have to say, this game is probably going to be a prequel, and doubtingly a sequel. If you look carefully through the trailer just after the first destroyed space ship(or whatever) flying by, you can see a spartan(you know it's James) flying by which indicates that it will be a prequel to Halo: CE. Sorry, but I think your thread may have failed.

In Halo: Reach, the blockbuster prequel to the Halo trilogy, experience the events that transpired on the planet Reach. Created by acclaimed developer Bungie, Halo: Reach will be available in the fall of 2010 exclusively on Xbox 360. As a bonus for Halo fans, Halo 3: ODST will be the key to entry for the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta coming to Xbox LIVE.

It wasn't instant, it took them atleast a few days to get to Delta Halo. It took the Pillar Of Autumn around two weeks to arrive at the first Halo ring.

October 20 - New Mombasa missions in Halo 3, ODST takes place this day.
November 2 - IAC and Regret arrive at Delta Halo
November 7 - Final Halo 2 mission
November 8 - Forerunner Keyship arrives in Sol system (final H2 cutscene)
November 17 - Halo 3 begins

However, I just had a thought... what if the shards of the crystal that Truth recieved was for him to move his Brutes around to different parts of the Covenant-controlled space almost instantly? He seemed to have a very secret and important purpose for it, and it surely involved Brutes if Tartarus was the one who he entrusted with the details.

Since it bends space-time and quickened the travel from Halo to Reach to just hours, something similar could have happened from High Charity to Earth.

Maybe I will work this in to the sequal to REACH.

2 weeks.

Regret left Earth on Oct 20, 2552 and Truth arrived with his invasion force on Nov3, 2552.
It can only be assumed that this is a reconnassaince force sent in advance of Truth's full armada. Considering the campaign in ODST centers around uncovering the mystery of what the Covenant are doing on Earth, it's not too far a stretch to think that Truth had sent a small advance force to accomplish some mission prior to his arrival.

I just have to say one thing....

i think this is what you want for a answer

at the end, he froze himself in that tube, for his travel hopfully home, but the last you see of him if his ship drifting towards a FORERUNNER planet, YES, FORERUNNER HOME WORLD, and, that's it so far, no one knows if there's going to be a halo 4, or not

ALSO- When you start the Halo 3 level 'The Ark' look up straight away. The stars/explosion you see in the sky is exactly the same to the cutscene destroyed ring in Halo 1, which is next to that planet. The fleets followed the Ark to the original Halo, and Master Chief is now there, on the planet from Halo 1.

okay thanks, I didn't know the dates, it jsut went from one to the next and I assumed it was instant

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

are you saying if there is no sequel, the game will fail?

if so, reach is based from the book "fall of reach" at the end of the book (SPOILERS) the chief and the POA escape the planet and end up at halo. this is comfirmed in the first cutscene of halo:combat evolved before they open the hushed casket, when cortana mensions that they escaped reach.

there for according to your logic, halo : reach is a prequel, and will be epic.

Again, another good find by you sir, and one that I can back up in Bungie literature. See the Halo Graphic Novel - Second Sunrise Over New Mombasa. The entire thing shows the first moments of the invasion, and I clearly make out elites in the pictures. If you own this, see page 98. Look at the grayscale cell inside of the last cell. It shows an Elite's foot. The colored section of the cell shows an Elite's head without armor on it.

EVEN more compelling is page 93, where the bottom cell shows what appears to be a Spartan being killed by a figure that could be made out as an Elite, but whose armor closely looks like http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/asset_popup_viewer.aspx?a t=59&cc=29&item=3. If you have the graphic novel, please look. The lack of Elites in ODST screenshots/video bothers me.

I actually retract my former statement. Second Sunrise happened before Regret jumped (so, during Halo 2), while ODST happens after this, when Brutes replaced the Elites. I think that it is actually very possible that Truth used the time-dilating crystal shards to get his Brutes to Earth the instant that Regret left, effectively taking them by surprise and allowing the surviving Elites (much of the city was decimated by the slipspace rupture) to be pushed out quickly.

  • 06.23.2009 10:59 AM PDT

I can explain the lights(in the H3 end). Light can reflect, so the light from the sun reflects to the moon(i think reach has a moon) and back to the earth wich can reflect light back again. The glass makes it easier to reflect light.
I personally think it's reach, maiby bungie just made the H3 end and reach trailer different,
for making the fan more inpatient or enthousiastic maiby XD.

edit: nvm reach was not glassed but bombarded. (wikipedia XD)

It has been in the works a while, meaning it must be something BIG.
Also, why not make a prequel?
Its nothing to do with the MC, so its actually not that related to Halo 3 or CE for that matter.
Yes, it is one of the reasons chief is the last Spartan, but how can you resist not making a game about an epic war such as Reach?

WAIT???
TWO ALMOST IDENTICAL PLANETS??!!
No
Reach was biological, this planet appears forerunner and mechanical, yes it could be a glassed Reach, but I doubt it would end up like that, unless.
They were making a sort of new way to tell Reach,
Chief explores Reach, finding clues as to what happened to his comrades, and find out where the heck he is.
It would not be dissimilar to ODST.

How about this
A. They are making a prequel. Proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC7zveMPWek
B. The Legendary Planet could be something else. I think it could be the Shield World. Where the other spartan are.
