I think in Reach, assuming the flood still exists and there is an infection gametype, the infection gametype should entail that the infected were actually infected in halo terms. I think it would add a lot to the game if you could actually blow off bits and pieces of the infected. It would even be better if they created a flooded map, something like Halo 2's Backwash.
Let me know what you think would be cool in the new infection gametype and what would be cool in a new Bungie designed infection map

I'd be fine with a more floody look to the spartans or the elites, as long as it didn't get in the way of how we could modify the gametype, I mean, I don't want the only attack to be massive floodified hands, nor would the super long jumping stuff be always needed.

I'll admit, I expected Bungie to incorporate the Flood models into the Infection game type and was pretty dissapointed that they didn't.

What if you could choose what attributes the infected flood got. Perhaps the alpha flood was a certain type of flood and the rest were a different type. Give the players the ability to customize the game even more.

Well how, if Spartans can't be infected? I think, unless someone can prove me wrong.

Agreed

sounds good

Well maybe in the infection gametype you would play as a marine, in that case the marines could be infected. I don't think anyone is sure how the gameplay is going to be in Reach. The key idea is that we get to play as the flood and actually get infected when we die. Whether it would be a good a idea get the floods abilities or not is still up for debate.

I love Mute!

I say if easy to kill - play as grunt
If normal ti kill - A flood
If hard to kill - Tank Flood
If takes a sweet time to kill - Spartan

Idk that's what i want. My idea.

Well, if the Flood are not a component of the Campaign (which seems likely as there were no Flood on Reach), then I sincerely doubt they would design the models, animations, textures, sounds, etc. for Multiplayer alone.

Additionally, Bungie was going to incorporate flood forms into Halo 3 but decided against it. If they were to change their minds, I don't see it happening with Reach.

I would be the popcorn..LOL

They should make the flood forms more strong

  • 06.23.2009 12:52 PM PDT

Hey, they may not necessarily build in the flood models in Halo 3, but if they incorporate this idea, you could make the spartans look infected.

P.S. I loved Backwash :D

i dont think thr is flood on reach. i read the book and thr was no mention of flood. just forunner ruins underground in the ONI CASTLE. and some crystal left by forunners that screws with slipspace travel and anti gravity. so this subject kinda doesnt hav a purpose any more. unless bungie is going off story. lol which would kinda suck

We're talking about multiplayer, it doesn't have to go with the story. I'm sure there's not realy battles to capture the flag either.

I'd bet that the flood will find themselves on reach though, somehow.

My thoughts exactly. If it doesn't affect the gameplay, I've got no problem with having a more "infected" look to the Infection gametype. I'm in.

Yeah but really has the multiplayer online ever really followed the story. I would just like to play an infection game on halo that you could really get into character with, both the setting of the game and person you are playing as.

  • 06.23.2009 1:57 PM PDT

that would be cool for infection. it would mix it up a little. but only in infection gametypes, not in normal multiplayer since they brake apart and if u get shot in the arm u wouldnt be able to carry any guns

  • 06.23.2009 3:04 PM PDT

-I know what you're thinking, and it's crazy.
-But... what if monkeys really could fly?

Has it occured to anyone the Flood wasn't discovered by the time of the Reach events?
Besides, playing as a flood would totally ruin it. It would be childish and really a wet nerd-dream.
I hope bungie never will make any flood playable in any way.

I think it would just be cool to actually play as a different character when you get infected, not necessarily flood if that doesn't fit into their story as well, but there has to be some creepy looking bad guy in Reach they could use.

they die then they're infected
i'm guessing one starts off as a true form then there a bunch of flood spores everywhere then when u die it get infected then you respawn in that spot as either an infected elite or spartan

Floodians whom I'm in a love square with:

camer guy 65
D A F T (daft_punk)
Sacred Flea

I watch this on loop when I'm bored.

It doesn't affect the campaign (which many people seem to be forgetting) so i would be happy with Flood skins in the Infection gametype, it would make it more intense IMO.

That's what I was thinking. You wouldn't just get infected and go on. You'd die, get infected and respawn as the flood.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Yes, it's something I was expecting in Halo 3's infection and was very disappointed when it was just simply black Spartans. At least just give them a Flood infected look, Bungie don't need to give them all that sprinting after you and beserking on you stuff.

  • 06.23.2009 6:07 PM PDT

Spoons!

The only problem I have with this idea is that it would look very strange in the "cops and robbers" scenarios that some people make using the infection gametype.
