Because thinking about it, are those bombs really anything like the covenant has? And why are the people so suprised--- what the hell was that (they were just talking about the covenant coming in) and then there's this guy who yells "there are people down there" which while it could mean that he wants them escorted out, the tone of his voice makes it sound like he's saying more so "you can't be doing this".

So do you think that, i dunno, perhaps oni, since they have a larger presence in ODST and odst seems like it's going to reference Reach quite a bit, is actually creating those explosions by trying to take out the covennant rather than the planet being destroyed by the covenenant.

And if so, I so want to play that sequence!

“To say more would spoil be it’s overall its a game that needs to be played.” - Aristotle

It seems to me like that's not a UNSC plan or Covenant weaponry. I honestly have no clue. I pointed out when the trailer first released that those weren't Covenant weapons. The only answer is that they're UNSC weapons... but why would the UNSC be bombarding their own colony?

Too much is left unanswered. The best thing that can be said at this point is that it's a teaser trailer, and may not reflect the game itself much at all. Who knows?

There was an instance in the battle where there were friendly casualties of carpet bombing.

It is not like any Covenant weapon we have seen. It is not plasma bombardment. However, if this is right at the beginning of the Fall, it is not nukes, because the EMP would knock out the generators for the MAC cannons. If it is later during the Fall, it very well could be nukes, because the MAC cannons eventually were destroyed. I think if it is a Covenant weapon, it could be similar to the antimatter bomb that was seen on the Cairo Station.

Its the unsc's own ships falling from the skies, the massive explosions are from the exploding fusion engines aboard the human ships. Why else would the humans be screaming" what the hell is going on" the last things the humans thought would be happening is their own ships falling down on them. The covenant must have some sort of emp weapon not seen in the other game. Or who knows, the covenant may be glassing the planet!!!

Good idea. It very well could be exploding ships: just look at the end of the first Halo game. They would be powerful enough to create those large explosions.

Remember that they used a nuke during the battle. Kelly throws a nuke into a covenant cruiser and it becomes the biggest fragmented grenade ever and it kills 10,000 covenant soldiers.

Oh and the covenant does glass the poles of the planet and then they try to kill the spartans in that huge mountain where all that forerunner crap is.

Could it be a movie?
Just putting it out there. Someone find me some evidence for or against.

There's a very real possibility of those bombs being dropped by the UNSC on ground they're losing in order to maximize Covenant casualties. Though if you pause the video upon the initial explosion(s), you'll see the tell-tale sign of blue, indicating plasma or something of the sort.

Two movies you should watch: Fight Club and Pineapple Express

"Wait. What do you mean, it's dead?"
"If marijuana is not legal within the next five years I have no faith left in humanity, period. Everyone likes smoking weed. They have for thousands of years. They're not going to stop anytime soon. You know? It makes everything better. Makes food taste better, makes music better. It makes sex feel better for God's sake. It makes -blam!- movies better you know?"

I thought they used some nukes in space in TFoR. I could be wrong but when they were having battle in space I thought they used a few when the MAC guns were reloading.

They probably did in Space, because if they used them in ground engagements the gennys for the MAC guns would have been EMPed, rendering their one major defense useless. Kelly, Fred, and Joshua ended up taking one of their tactical nukes and destroyed a Covenant ship with it, because the shielding of the ship prevented the EMP from frying the generators.
