Subject: Can we change up how the gravity lifts work in Reach?

If you have played the game for any length of time, you have probably noticed that gravity lifts are often a very unsafe way of getting to higher ground. Just take construct for example. No matter how you enter it, the gold lift always spits you out in the same spot, and at the same speed. After a few games, the adverage player can easily time their grenade throws so that a grenade goes off exactly where you land.

Sure, there are other routes to take, and I'm not exactly saying that it is cheap to camp at the top of gravity lifts, but it has always bothered me that you always get spat out in the exact same location. Being predictable means that you will quickly die in this game, and besides crouching rapidly inside of the gravity lift to slow yourself down a little bit, there is not much you can do to stop yourself from being predictable.

In Reach, you should be able to control your character while inside of the gravity lift. As you rise up, you can move your player, left right, forwards, and backwards while inside of the tube. Not only would this make it harder to land on a grenade as you exit the lift, it would also allow for gravity lifts that lead to different places, you get off where you want by moving towards that opening. Like as if you were on a four layered level, by leaning towards the right, you get off on the first, going to the left side of the tube gets you to the second, going forwards gets you to the third.

I know it doesn't make any sense from a physics standpoint, given that you are changing direction in midair without any apparent force being given to you, but I think that it would make the game play much more interesting, and would encourage more people to use the gravity lifts.

What do you guys think?

"Anyone can give up it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's the true strength."

Agreed. Even though I usually camp as much as the next on those grav lifts on construct, they can become annoying. But I doubt there'd be many maps with those kinds. It's all man-cannons if you think about it. Valhalla for example, you can move slightly different from your landing zone.

I'd prefer to have it not be able to move in the lift, but vary your exit by how you enter the lift. So the angle, speed, and duration of time in the lift would all vary how you came out of it.

I agree. I prefer the slow moving, controllable grav lifts such as the Truth and Reconciliation's, rather than the quick moving, die a alot grav lifts, such as the equipment.

whay change the speed when you can change direction? Anybody remember in halo 2 the lifts that would go horizontal instead of vertical? Maybe they could bring that back. Or maybe even make multiple lifts so people dont camp them as often.

I like the idea with the multiple exits out of the lift. The would be some cool gameplay.
