Does anyone know how Xbox.com manages their forums? The way that they do is neat because they (as in moderators) approve threads before they are posted. But the difference is that you can dont have to approve posting in a thread. then there well be less threads that are 100% per spam. And the special forums as The Flood, Gallery, News, Voting Booth, Classifieds so then then spam is pin-point making it easier for mods to lock em.

I think that Bungie.net would lose it's dynamicness... erm, dynamicticity... it wouldn't be as dynamic of a forum. I don't like the idea, personally.

It would be good if that were possible. The sheer number of posts in Zanzibar would take 10+ mods monitoring constantly, and even more during peak flow time. Just think about, the mods would have to spend all their time approving threads and wouldn't have any leisure time to spend with their 7th Column friends. And don't get me wrong, I think the mods do a great job, and BNet would be much worse place without them, but they're's always a chance they'll miss a post or such.

Bungie would have to choose another 100 or so moderators for this to work, and although Bungie chose their current mods very wisely indeed, if they were to choose a load at the same time, chaces are one jerk would take advantage of their position and cause havoc.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be great, if it were possible, but the fact is that it isn't..

I agree couldn't have said it better myself.

The Most Obvious Use for the "X" Button

MALSH

Dude, Pimps at Sea is like Halo, going 30 knots in a harbour, being chased by clippers and Man-o-war. And the Man-o-war are firing.

What forums are you talking about? last time I checked, the Xbox.com games forums weren't moderated at all, they even have a little note at the top saying so... And I've not noticed a delay in posting thread either, they just show right away.

(didn't comment on the impossibility of implementing this as that point has already been handled)

Well, the way I hear it, the mods already have their hands completely full.

I really don't think you could get a moderating staff to sit around and approve threads all day for nothing. Believe it or not, we're not paid, nothing, zip, zilch! We do this all on our free time and approving threads will be a burden and take forever to be posted because every moderator stops by when they can.

It does have its advantages, approving threads and such, but Bungie.net would lose something if it was under a system of approval. Sure we've got our problems, but it's just not practical here.

Also not only is it not practical but then it's no longer the opinions of the posters it's the opinion of the moderators. I'm not saying that moderators are power hungry but if you did get one that was power hungry he could approve only threads he agrees with and that would be all we see. So we could see the same thread like a thousand times and nothing new. Also I would like to say I've been on several forums but none have ever had mods approve threads and most have been as good as this one. Actually this is one of the best ones I've seen.

Agreeable. Mods don't want to spend all of their free time approving posts. Especially, mods like Recon Number 54 who get online every small chance they get to do a quick scan over the forums before they catch the next flight to California, posting from hotel to hotel. It sounds like a good idea, but it would take forever and wouldn't be very efficient.

Yeah. It would just take too long and then we'd get even more complaints

Yeah. it would just take up too much time and effot, and a load of complaints would flood in

How about no? That could be some kind of future punishment for prisons but not for mods. I think we should be able to vote a post as "crap" and if enough people vote a post "crap" then it gets removed.

  • 05.21.2005 5:19 PM PDT

Definately not, unless there were many more mods.
