They don't have to kill Masterchief. You see, if he went back in time to Reach, that would mean that he never dies. Because it would just loop to halo 3 and back to reach. Which would be helpful for Bungie since they don't want to kill him. This is also helpful to MS because then they could make other games since he never dies.

I know, I hate this theory but it works out perfect.

I hope Its wrong though.

If he were to go back in time it would be a Sequal. It is a Prequal not a Sequal.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

He never died though? Let alone he was alive during the Battle of Reach.

but he never does die. they could say he lands on the elites -blam!- plant and fights invading brutes if they needed a new game.

If they don't want to kill him, then they won't. I don't see why you need time travel for that.

Even though this is true, it would be useful to use time travel to stick to the canon. So gamers won't say like "oh well he's old and he'll just die" because he'll be stuck in an endless loop.

Of course he'll die, he's only human ... more or less. But he will live for as long as he's in that cryo-pod. And how would that be useful to the canon? The time travel alone would metaphorically turn it inside out, let alone all the stuff he'd be changing.

time travel would ultimately ruin halo.

Bungie has talked about time travel before with "I love bees" and Nicole-458.

The "I love bees" synopsis is based off an explosion blowing a smart AI, Melissa apart. Part of her was sent back in time to the year 2004, where she landed on the ilovebees internet website.

Bungie has stated in its December 13, 2005 Weekly Update that:
"In 2552, SPARTAN-458's unit was preparing for a classified mission on Nassau Station when the ONI stealth ship Apocalypso tumbled into real-space - being carried along in the wake of a freak slipspace anomaly. The anomaly intersected Nassau Station; creating a semi-stable "bubble" in the space/time continuum on its way back to the 21st Century. For the time being Nicole-458 is trapped in the 21st century; guarding Nassau Station's secrets with anything but lethal force (she realizes killing someone in the past could have dire consequences)and waiting for the "bubble" to collapse and hopefully returning her to the year 2552."

I was under the impression that Spartan 458 from DoA 4 was non-canon.

Nicole might not be canon but then why come up with the explanation. And although playing as Master Chief sounds unlikely, and kind of strange, seeing as he shouldn't be at Reach.

During an interview with USA Today, Frank O'Connor said, "I doubt we have seen the last of Master Chief." Link

I would personally love to see another game runnin and gunnin as the mc.... this will hopefully happen, but cant pray..... now the time travel theory that is going around tears a whole in itself completely...... if mc slips into the past to try to save the remnants of reach then technically there would be 2 mc if bungie's time travel works out as such...... while one is facing the covenant forces, the other would be battling on reach. as soon as reach was cleared around the time of halo 2 the 1st mc would be traveling on to fight the covenant and endlessly loop around in this fashion untill there was an unlimited supply of mc's..... on the other hand if this didn't happen that way and mc wasnt around for halo:ce then the covenant forces would win and all we would have was 2 mc's one older and one young stuck on reach... and wouldn't they both travel through slip space together and restart the entire halo trilogy? then the next time around they would have 3 mc's and so on and so forth

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Hey, sup. You guys played Fable 2? That's where Chief ends up.. yeep totally canon.. not, honestly folks, time travel? Are you serious?!

So if the MC did time travel back to Reach there would be 2 MC's and 2 Cortana's...what's wrong with this picture?

Well as soon as he got on the COM there would be confusion. Then he would be talking to himself and also Cortana would be talking to herself. Then who ever is in charge Admiral so and so would be confused. That's only scraping the surface of having 2 MC's in the picture...

So you get the picture...

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

The time-travel theory is stupid.

Stop suggesting it. It's a stupid theory.

Yeah!
Chief goes back in time/different universe to Fable 2, where he turns into the mighty warrior Hal.

Btw, MJOLNIR is made out of leather and energy swords are made out of steel.

Bungie has stated that they dislike the idea of time travel, don't even try to say it would work.
