Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I do not want it to be exactally like Halo 3, but similar would be nice.

Think about mancannons, they basically project you at high speeds until you hit a floor. Fall damage would make using a mancannon basically imposssible.

No, shields is all we need.

So stop saying I want to turn it into Halo: CE. I'm asking for the same thing as you, just different gameplay features. You want more of the same, I want change. You don't have to come into my threads itching for fights because you think that only you can say what you want in the game. We all can.

Also, for mancannons and fall damage, just make FD only occur in the more vertical drops, and if you pancake onto the ground (like from a mancannon) you wouldnt be effected. Like when you landed on a sloped surface in H1 you took no fall damage. But I'm sure you know nothing about that.

As for health, there's health in Halo 2 and 3, you just can't see it. I want health to remain in the game (while you apparently don't), I just want to be able to see it (I still want it to regenerate, incase you're having trouble comprehending me again).

Do you really think bungie will bring back the pistol from CE? It's not realistic at all.

I think that hoping for a battle rifle that functions like the pistol is more realistic.

It's actually one of the two most realistic weapons in the Halo trilogy (the other being the shotgun) in terms of power, range and effectiveness. Everything else is just very unrealistic. But I see what you mean; but really, realism isn't an issue at all with Halo. A Needler? A Plasma Rifle which doesn't kill in one or two shots? Sniped through the neck but you don't go down?

You're right about the PR, it's not realistic at all but I think that's because covenant weapons would just be too overpowered if they were the same as they were in the books.

Usually Bungie tries to keep things realistic to the Halo Universe and I don't think a pistol that has more range, more power, and faster shooting speed than a battle rifle is realistic.

And I don't know if the effectiveness is realistic. The Spartans DO have shields...

Anyways, in the end it's really about the gameplay and the pistol makes for great gameplay, hopefully Bungie won't have an issue with it being realistic or not, but I'm guessing they will.

Lets count the games featuring a pistol and/or a large magazine, low calibre rifle as the staple spawn: Halo 1

If the two untested and new weapons in Halo: 3 ODST seem to fit the Halo 1 criterion, so what? Bungie's getting back to its roots, and besides, neither the AR or the CE Magnum are confirmed, so why are we so fearful of reverting to Halo 1-esque gameplay?

I think a lot of people on these forums have only played Halo 3 and, obviously, they like it, so they want to stick to what they like.

MA5K Assault Rifle: The MA5K Assault Rifle would replace the MA5B from Halo, and the MA5C from Halo 3. It is a weapon depicted in the novels, and also in Halo: Custom Edition. It would be a weapon much more about accuracy compared to the AR in Halo 1/3, and it would also be a more versatile weapon, finally working at midrange (in the right hands, of course). This is the version in Halo: Custom Edition.

I like this idea, but that sounds slightly overpowered. If the rate of fire was decreased and the magazine capacity was increased, it'd be more balanced. 10 headshots to kill would make it too powerful. I like this idea, but it sounds a lot like a cross between a BR and an AR. I hope this makes it into the game, but not exactly as you're suggesting. You can't have it too powerful, even if it is a starting weapon.

I agree, if you think about it, 12 rounds would only allow you to take out 2 people at a time. I think 18 bullets would be better, allowing you to take down 3 people in 1 clip and allowing a couple shots to miss the head.

I agree, maybe a slightly faster ROF on the pistol though, not 4 per second, but somewhere in between 3 and 4.

I LOVE the sound of the Halo CE Assault rifle. That deep, intense, rumbling death sound that emanates from its chamber. I am sad that they made the Halo 3 Assault rifle sound so toy-ish.

I have always wanted to use an MA5K. I'm a sucker for carbines. Also, I say we don't necissarily remove the BR, but modify it. You know, make it semi-automatic. It was in the Halo 2 E3 2003 demo and everyone has been waiting for that version to make an appearance in-game for a long time, and this maybe the time that is comes.

It shouldnt be the starting weapon, also the whole point in halo 2 of the BR was that the AR was split in two, to get the SMG & the BR.

So in Reach there can only really be 2 out of the 3 - SMG or BR or AR.

Or we get a halo 3 game where the smg is useless because you have an AR. SMG game start should come back, as starting with a BR or AR is crazy because then you dont need to pick up any weapons you spawn and your set.

The weapons need to be watered down again like halo 1, where each weapon excels in a certain region.

The CE pistol killed way faster than the H3 BR and the H2 BR killed faster and was definitely a far better weapon than the H3 BR.

I did take a lot more skill to master, though... I wouldn't call the sniper rifle overpowered, just powerful (in the right hands, but not overpowered in evenly matched games)...

the AR is void, Remove the noobs

the AR no longer is needed in halo, its just makes the game crap,

the only reason that people moan so much about the melee is because everyone tries to melee with the AR all the time,

BR games types are better with no AR at all,

the AR is to powerfull and accurate at all ranged, and is a pain in the arse when noobs shoot you running in a straight line and win just because they are using an AR

even if the other player is terrible you will be on one shot because of the AR anyway so another noob will just kill you

Everyone was going on about how good it was and so, it is slowly becoming less popular. Mainly MLG's fault, what with all the emphasis on it.

How is it MLG's fault that the Battle Rifle is becoming less popular.(Who says its becoming less popular, I have seen nothing to support this claim.) Anyway I do not want the Battle rifle taken out, they may have done it with ODST but in Reach it appears that we might play as Spartans and I do not want to be a Spartan running around with an Assault Rifle. If this turns out to be true I would not get the game.

I'd be worried that if this happened, then the Pistol would be reverted down to some worthless weapon. In that case, I would rather just have it removed (but then you have a problem in campaign with no sidearm for allies).

I suggested Having the Ma5k for Halo 3. I really would love the gun to be in this game after playing CMT's multiplayer. You described its purpose perfectly.

On the note about having the Pistol replace the BR, I think they could fit both in without making the Pistol useless. The BR should and must be a semi-automatic gun firing one bullet at a time. The bullets would individually be weaker since it is firing them one by one.

The BR would have longer range than a pistol. Meaning it would be used as a semi-sniper rifle, or to counter snipers and keep them out of their scope. (The reason I think it would have this much range is because in Contact Harvest, Avery used it as a sniper rifle when he couldn't use a Sniper Rifle.) Now it would take a long time to kill people with since it is semi-automatic and the bullets do less damage. Maybe have half the clip kill, or have no headshot bonus to keep it balanced?

For the pistol, Bungie could just use the new AutoMag from ODST. Maybe modify it to fit the timeline. It would have a silencer and scope just like the ODST version. Now where it differs from the BR, is that it is surpressed and has no muzzle flash, making it harder to spot you when using it. It would grant headshots, but have a shorter range.

Keep in mind, the range would still be about a quarter of Blood Gulch, while the BR would have a range of half of Blood Gulch, but the BR is much weaker and takes longer to kill with. So basicly if you use the Br up close, or in Magnum range, you might as well call yourself a gonner as the Ma5k, Magnum, or AR will outdo you.
