The best thing to do is buy odst then get all the achievements really fast then return it back to the shop.
There aren't any codes so you should get the full refund or close.

does anyone know what disc the beta is going to be on?

You've hit a snag there buddy,
Halo: Reach's multiplayer beta is on the ODST disk under "Extras".
So you can't get the refund, and expect to be part of the beta.

Sucks for your plan, doesn't it?

It is a full f****** stand alone game! It is called an expantion for the fact that it shares a mulitplayer with halo 3 and no other reason.

If it had no multiplayer, it would be named Halo: ODST and gotten the normal price any ways.

I'm tired of the threads where people whine and complain "OMG I have to pay the normal price for a video game. It is the same price as every other game, that's so unfair".

A retard on a d*** tricycle could get that through their head.

I so agree

The reason people are upset is because they have to pay $20 for game content they already have.
If you think thats fair you must be that ret*ard.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

Which is why I absolutely don't understand why those of us who have already bought all the maps are required to pay for the maps again, if that is the case. My key point is that the PR man for Bungie messed up. Don't make a promise you won't or can't hold, because there are people who will look back and frown.

One thing about that. The game isn't priced for just the group of gamers who bought the DLC when it was first released. To you and others it may be a bit steep, but to someone who put down Halo because they didn't want to pay for those maps, it's a hell of a deal. To me, the first disc alone is worth the 60 bucks. There are plenty of single player only games that people pay 60 bucks for. I know I'll get plenty of play time out of it so, to me, the price is justified.

Different views on the value of something happen all the time. What I find valuable, you may find worthless or less valuable. No one is going to convince the other side their opinion is right. It's pointless to even discuss or argue, in my opinion.

Mr. Shock Trooper, if you're saying I'm retarted then lol. I think it's definitely fair. (BTW I do have all map packs) Why? Because people that bought it before get to do everything before ODST comes out. AN seeing in my opinion how ODST should be priced MORE than $60 I don't care because it's priced as a normal game.

No i don't really care about the beta but if it was on the other disc i would of considered it a bonus.
But who knows if its good i might actually keep it .

I am an Eagle Scout.

Campaign $20 + Firefight $10 + Three Maps $10 =/= $60 Maybe I should be talking to some economists, business men, or PR men not a bunch of Halo fanboys. When someone gives you their word, if they don't come through you lose respect for them. This is bad business practice to promise something that won't come through. Any successful person in the world knows this.

All of you who already have all the maps are being blindly robbed. You have to pay for the maps again. I wanna say that you guys who are replying to this thread with insults are getting your mommy's and daddy's to pay for your games. Come back in a few years when you know more and you pay your own way through this world.

I like the part where you paid attention to what they said instead of hearing what you wanted to hear.

It was said that they saw it as about a $30 US Title. This was quite a while ago, and since then ODST has developed into a very large package.

Despite all this, Microsoft prices all Xbox 360 games, not their developers. The developers can make suggestions, but they do not choose the price.

Blame Microsoft on this one, not Stosh.

Rule 6: Respect the Admins

“It’s their website, and they can do whatever the hell they like with it. You’re a guest, and hassling them about how they run things is akin to going round your Auntie’s house and curling one out in her tea-pot.”

Hey Mr.Shocktrooper, some people haven't even gotten into halo yet so that helps new players. Most people have a really scratched up halo disc that won't play some of the original and the DLC maps. I know some people like that.

And quite frankly people need to learn to just get over it. ALOT of things you buy on a daily basis will have you pay for something you didn't wan't. H*** they'll make you pay extra at a resturaunt if you ask for something to not be added.

I don't even think they're charging $20 for the maps you already have. I bet most of that $20 dollars that is soo precious to everyone goes to the Reach beta and many other things.

Also when you wan't to go attack some one's character it helps to be original and not rehash something the person used 3 sec ago. But I understand if you can't grasp that concept.

I agree 100%. It's going to be using Halo 3's Multiplayer, so it shouldn't be priced at the normal videogame cost.

Ahh blind accusations about people over the internet. Showing how smart you are now aren't you? Again I'll say this; The value you place on campaign and firefight is different from others.Talking down to those that think different from you doesn't make your point more valid.

And maybe you should take a business class instead of pretending like you have any idea what your talking about. Pricing this game at 60 bucks while throwing in all the DLC for those that don't have it and making the campaign, and firefight, robust enough to matter to people who do have the maps is brilliant if you ask me. Not to even mention the Reach beta which is a great bonus. You just have a distorted view about what you "deserve" and how Bungie gave their word. Bungie gave their opinion. You took it as their word. Your fault not theirs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you're saying is that Bungie promised you Halo 3: ODST would cost $40, and that they are a terrible company that doesn't know how business works?

Both of those statements are false. If you are so high and mighty and know all the ins and outs of the economy, why can't you realize they never promised what the price would be and that they aren't the ones pricing it?

For the 452nd time, why is it that other companies are able to give stuff away for free? Valve, L4D, Survival pack? Why also was RARE able to release their latest Banjo game for $40? Just two examples.

Because they own the rights, Microsoft owns the rights on Halo.

L05T50UL, I didn't include the Halo 3 multiplayer because I have all of it except the three new maps. They should at least give me the option to buy ODST without the Halo 3 multiplayer WHICH I ALREADY OWN!

M$ is the government. They tax me for income, social security (which I won't recieve), and buying products. M$ is doing the same thing with their ability to price their items for far more then their worth cost. So I do blame M$, but I also blame Bungie for misleading me. It's the principle of staying true to the consumer.

I like how you've neglected to mention at all the other 12 maps which have been released after Halo 3's initial launch.

Halo 3's multiplayer experience (Multiplayer, Custom Games, Forge, etc) are all packed and bundled wtih Halo 3: ODST.
That means 4 Map Packs.
Well...3 if you want to get technical, since the Heroic went free.
That's a $40 (or technically, $30) value packaged with ODST.

That, in addition to a new game mode in FireFight, a brand new campaign experience that has grown beyond anything Bungie had originally hoped for a one year project, and the Halo: Reach Beta, Halo 3: ODST has grown substantially from when it was only going to be a 3-5 hour campaign expansion.

Microsoft has every right to call this a full game, and charge it as such.
You are going to claim that ODST does not ship with enough content to justify the pricetag?
What about the numerous single player games that ship full price?
The most those come with, is the story mode, and an extras, and possibly some sort of bonus single player thing.
Yet, they go for full price.
Take a look at Assassin's Creed and Prototype for some prime examples.
Why are they allowed to be charged as a full game, but Halo 3: ODST, which ships with twice as much (if not more) content is not?

Let me break it down for you.
Brand new campaign experience - $20.
FireFight - $10
Halo: Reach Multiplayer invitation - $10

Legendary Map Pack - $8
Mythic Map Pack Part 1 - $10
Mythic Map Pack Part 2 - $10

Total - $68.

It warrants the price tag, despite whatever you believe otherwise.

You are a buffoon. Bungie never mislead you, you simply put far too much faith into an opinion. Does that mean if someone thinks that the far left silhouette in the Reach Banner is Sam, and it turns out it isn't, that they are misleading me? NO.

Bungie gave their opinion on what the game could be priced a few months ago, before the game was finished. You were never mislead.

~~Christian

there are plenty of single player games that sell for $60, Fallout 3, Oblivion, [Prototype]. there is no problem with the price, so quit whining.

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

Microsoft decides the pricing. Especially on this one.

What do you mean they didn't deliver? Price has nothing to do with the content and quality of the game.

I always laugh when people say silly things like "Bungie let us down!" "Bungie mislead us!" "Bungie are sellouts!" "Bungie doesn't care about its fans!" Because if you've paid attention to what they've done the last 8 years, you'd know its not true.

People said the same thing pre Halo 1, pre Halo 2 and well pre everything. People just need to face the fact that Bungie as a whole is a business first. Though that does not mena they do not pay attention to the fans. They do, which is why they have spectacular extras as Forge, Theater, special playlists, The Halo 3 Public Beta, and of course ODST which is mostly a thing for fans that have always wanted such thing.

Just be happy you got 2 discs for 60 bucks bundled with every Halo 3 map, the ODST campaign, Firefight, extras and the Reach Beta Key.

The soul knows no death.
I am an Eagle Scout.

I want to reply to all of you in this post.

First, I have lost some respect for Bungie because of their misleading information. I have not lost all respect nor do I think that they are a "bad business".

To all the single player games out their, I for one do not purchase such games. Multiplayer is where it's at. They can throw their $60 dollar price tags out there, I for one won't be buying.

Why am I forced to pay for all the Halo 3 multiplayer I already own only to enjoy the new content of ODST? I want to spend what those three things are worth. I don't need all this other stuff. Also, the Reach Beta is just an addition to help them sell their $60 price tag. It's really just a way for Bungie to Alpha/Beta test their product for free. You guys know that gaming companies pay people to test games, right?

Why can't I pay for ODST campaign, firefight, and the three new maps for how much I assume they are worth? Because M$ and Bungie thinks I'm wrong. The Grateful Dead released a album years ago, they asked for the consumer to pay how much they thought it was worth. Guess what, the consumer on average payed far more then the selling price of the album, had it been released at cost.
