Subject: Halo 3 ODST : Breaking Microsoft's Achievement Policy?

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

sorry if i was unclear, but this is exactly what i was saying

When you said something about unlocking them twice was the part I wasn't sure about. I'm pretty damn sure you can't unlock them twice. Thanks for clearing up what you meant without bashing me for trying to correct you.

Please consider enlisting in the UNSC's Black Water Ops Program. Led by Recon and featured multiple time in Bungie's Community Spotlight. We have over 4000 members in just over 9 months and we are growing everyday. I hope to see at BWO!

where did you get that quote? Microsoft?

The 2nd disc, for the purposes of Xbox Live and achievements, is considered Halo 3. You're wrong, they're right.

Posted by: bigturns00
The 2nd dis(c/k) is not Halo 3. The Halo 3 disk offers both Campaign and Multiplayer. The 2nd disc offers only Multiplayer, the premium map packs and Forge.

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

750GS (All of the DLC related achievements in halo 3)
+1000GS (Halo 3 ODST)
=
1750 GS
+300 GS (or so, rounded the value of multiplayer achievements in halo 3 (w/o dlc))
=
2150 GS

You can get around 2150GS just by purchasing Halo 3 ODST, a 60$ game.

Is that against Achievement Policy? Yeah, it is.

I don't see what you mean by this. Are you saying that we will be able to get things like Overkill and other achievements twice? Or are you saying that if you DON'T have these achievements then it gives ODST too big an amount of GS?

techniquely (SP?) speaking alot of games are in violation it clearly states that everyone has access to ALL achievments in a game, well what about people who dont have xbox live? techniquley they dont have access to all achievments, i know you could say get xbox live then but not everyone wants it and therfore have been cheated i feel

Even if there was a problem... It's Halo.

When you made Halo and you're Halo, it opens up a lot of doors for you.

so why do we need the halo 3 multiplayer disc?? to play the maps??, to play with recon?? why cant the maps just come as a code like the first map pack did with Halo wars. and you can just use your original halo 3 disc to play with recon. please just tell me, why have you wasted time makeing the second disc??

Read the new policy dude

For all hardcore gamers, the kind guys who watch their points increase in their Xbox Live profile as they play more games and as they unlock more Achievements, February 2007 was a landmark moment, with an announcement that shaped the way they saw their universe and played their videogames. It's the moment when Microsoft said that all the titles release on the Xbox 360 would have a limit of 1,000 points, with another 250 coming via downloadable content.

The fact that the rules changed somewhat was clear when gamers saw the release of titles like Halo 3, Fallout 3, Fable 2 or The Orange Box, which broke the limits in all kinds of ways, from the number of Gamer Points awarded to that of Achievements listed.

Microsoft did not make any new announcement regarding a change in policy, so a group of gamers took it upon themselves to find out what's the new policy and show gamers what they can expect from fresh titles as far as Achievements are concerned.

Xbox360Achievements.org has gotten word from a very credible source that the new games governing points and Achievements are as follows: each videogame released on the Xbox 360 can get at the most 1,750 Gamer Points during its lifetime, with no more than 80 Achievements attached to it; if the developer wants to make DLC for the game, they need to make sure that they only add 250 points and 10 Achievements for the duration of one quarter.

The source is saying that the new rules are making sure that developers are not trying to attract more gamers by releasing DLC with big chunks of Achievements closely after the release date.

i hope this clears up everthing a little bit more

yes what are we talking about
XD

  • 06.25.2009 5:34 PM PDT

I am pretty sure it will be:

Halo 3: 1000 points
Halo 3 DLC: 750 points
Halo 3 ODST: 1000 points

2750 across the 2 games since the multiplayer points will be shared.

So if you just have ODST you can get upto 1750 points.
But if you have Halo 3 as well then you can also get the achieves with that as well, but you don't double count the dlc points. We shall see tho I guess.

Wow. Your hard.

How many girlfriends does that equate to? Oh, that's right. Zero.

Why did you have to make it personal? I don't suck, I have the Katana, and I'm better than you at the game anyway.

I should probably rephrase. "Mature people don't care about GamerScore."

I know people with 50,000GS+ that have wives. And are in the Navy. And i'm pretty sure you're trolling because of the sentence I don't suck, i have the Katana That's something a troll would say, or some 11 year old would say.

I should probably rephrase. "Immature people care about pixels in a video game that = to rank or an object".

You may exit the forum now.

Your caring about numbers... so I guess that makes you immature?

And when he was talking about girlfriends, I think he meant how many you got BECAUSE of your gamerscore, in which case is 0.

EDIT: You were a different person, I thought you were the one who was bragging about your 33000 gamerscore, my bad, ignore the first part of my post.

Might I draw your attention to the post that the guy who made the personal attack on me made? I have emboldened the phrase that prompted my "Katana" response for you. You are correct, however. Immature people do care about pixels in a video game. Be it rank, the katana, or GamerScore. Which brings me back to my first point. It's a video game, it's all irrelevant. Why do people worry?

I was not trolling then, and I haven't trolled these Forums in the years that I have been here. I think you owe me an apology.

EDIT: I'll be pleased to continue this debate in PM, but don't lets clog this thread any further. Apologies to the OP for this getting out of hand.

I'm always boggled how folks get uppity when the people who run the game (re: Xbox360 / Live) decide to change their own rules. Then we get forum posts equivalent to providing evidence of hypocrisy.

It's like tattling on the teacher to the rest of the class in elementary school. What are you going to do, stage a coup?
