LOOK OUT FOR THE ROFL FRAMES OF DOOM!

Hello.
I am sick and tired of the "time travel" speculations - it is my turn for my theories on Halo: Reach - I've read all the novels, and every published book so far. I've also memorized most of the books.
Whoever has read the books knows that James got shot on his thruster pack while trying to do repairs on a space dock with the rest of the Spartans in "The fall of Reach". He was propelled into space and lost. Here's a picture of him that I found (I know IGN found it too, but I found everything out myself first):
Picture: http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s52/hemblahem/jehmz.jpg?t= 1245950097
Note that they mentioned Sierra 320 and Sierra 259 - the Spartans only go up to 150, but it was mentioned in the books a few times that another wave of Spartan II's were trained.
Knowing Bungie I know now that we will NOT be following Fred, Linda, Kelly or the others due to the sole reason that they always come up with something new. They are obviously writing an entierly new script for quality assurance and spoiler reasons.
My guess is that the events will take place before and simultaneously with Halo 1, as the possible class II, Mark V (as worn in Halo 1) spartan II's.
The game is a first-person shooter. Bungie recently hired the creative director from GRAW (Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter) - I'm not taking any assumptions, but could this mean a tactical shooter? A squad based shooter?

Also, for gods sake, the planet chief was drifting towards at the end of Halo 3 IS NOT REACH - it is a forerunner planet by the architecture. It is close to the ark and Halo rings. It is not a military planet. The station on the Halo: Reach trailer is an orbital super-mac cannon, not the back half of Forward unto dawn.

So, there you go.

Atleast give some credit to the guys at IGN rewind theater. You are acting like you found everything out yourself. Anyway, I agree with it 100%. Bungie will indeed write a new script.

Sure, I'm giving them credit. Although I found it (after) they found it, but before seeing the video myself. I was so disappointed when I saw that they had discovered it too:(

When I said my friend, I didn't mean that you are really my friend

I think that a clue to the game being about a fall of reach, is where it says "Falls 2010".

No offense, but... duh! You see it falling on the trailer.
You also hear them say "Winter contingency has been declared, all units have been mobilized" as in the Art of Halo 3, saying they removed that part from the book to shorten it, but they kept it in the story along with other aspects of it.

I find this very intriguing, and one of the better thought out and backed up theories here. I'm still not sure of who it will follow, but you've got my weight behind it.

I think you should know that there are two bodies floating in the trailer

Err... where?
I find this odd because only one body was lost in space over reach. It fits perfectly. It was simultaneously with the attack, the was close to a super-MAC and the super-MAC was damaged.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

Yeah, I think you will play as "the second wave" of SPARTAN II's. But the first cut scene shows Blue team on there first mission... (that would be sweet). Anyways, that would mean that the trailer is pretty much the beginning of the game.

You got some sort of proof... A link to a picture maybe...

I am in total and utter agreement with the person above. Maybe you saw something that looked like a human silhouette floating in space, something in the planet's natural landscape possibly?

  • 06.26.2009 5:02 AM PDT

that is not a super mac platform, it is a broken frigate, but you can see the whole frigate, not just the back like the forward unto dawn

  • 06.26.2009 6:25 AM PDT

IM A LEGIT 16

Yeah, that doesn't look like a Super MAC Orbital Cannon.
Look alot like a Frigate, since it has an engine.

If you really memorised the books, you'd remember the Class II Spartan II were canceled, due to lack of funding.

That's why they made Spartan IIIs, cheap(er) but effective soldiers.

All of these theories were brought up before, and most were proven wrong.

Yeah, that could be James, as brought up many times before, but he is most likely dead. If he isn't, then why wouldn't they tell anyone? How could they retrieve his body in that battle?

I've memorized most of the books. At least First Strike, most of Ghosts of Onyx and The fall of Reach - I don't remember the lack of funding being brought up though.

Yes, it is a frigate. I was tired, and probably typed more then just that wrong. If you remember the books, you'll remember how James died. He was fixing exactly that, when a needle from a needler hit is Thruster-pack and he was propelled into space, being lost there.

That's what you see on the trailer, James drifting out in space later to probably die from starvation or similar.

-blam!- GTFO OF MY SIGNATURE

Or that might just be some mangled ship floating closer to the planet. We'll just have to wait and see.

It might. But if you look closely at the trailer (view on Xbox - big screen TV;) you'll notice the uncanny resemblance. A leg even moves.

The immediate plan for Class II was delayed. There is nothing in the books that says the program was never restarted. In fact, Dr. Halsey's plan was to continue the program when the augmentation process was improved. The loss of funding was not a setback since Halsey had no intention of training a group immediately after the first group anyway.

The decision to make Spartan IIIs had nothing to do with the decision to temporarily halt the Spartn II program. Halsey delayed the second group of Spartan IIs to improve the survival rate from augmentation. Col. Ackerson created the Spartan III program in secret based on his own ideas of how Spartans should be trained, equpiped and utilized. The two programs are unrelated.

Also, keep in mind that the augmentation process WAS successfully improved. The last class of Spartan IIIs suffered no fatalities related to augmentation.

The mark V suit contains oxygen for 3 weeks.
