Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

In the current stable version of WINE (1.0.1), you will need mfc42.dll to install, and mscat32.dll to run the updater. Put those DLL's in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 (you will need to run winecfg once to create those directories).

If you notice in-game message text does not appear, install msxmlenu.msi with msiexec.

Good luck!

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Thanks man. I've been messing around with GNU/Linux for years, so I don't mind posting several paragraphs of technobabble when someone asks for it. :D

What video card, driver and distro are you using?

I'm on Ubuntu 9.04. I think its NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100, and i dont know how to find the drivers.
Edit:I switched video drivers now it works. i just need a way to lower the settings because the setting menu doesn't work.

Weird. I looked in the game settings directories, and the files in there are all binary. You might be able to change them in a hex editor.

~/.wine/c_drive/Documents\ and\ Settings/User/My\ Documents/My\ Games/Halo/saved/
