Something smells fishy...

I don't know if anyone else has experieced this phenomenon. Maybe I just attract people who want to ruin one's online multiplayer fun.

I've witnessed those that actually follow my "masterchief character" around Bloodgulch and betray me over and over again. Thus I ask them to "stop" or I even change teams. But either they ignore my requests or they follow me on to the other team.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

This has been a problem for a long time. the BUNGIE-CTF and team game servers were plagued with people who just like to ruin other peoples' fun. Friendly fire is stupid in public games, but Bungie has never dealt with it reasonably. Gearbox Software tried to help by adding a series of bans for repeat offenders, but a lot of people seem to turn it off for their servers.

Short version: Avoid "ban-free" servers and frequent servers that have friendly fire turned off.

Yeah it was on a public server, a really popular one. It's just annoying.

It's just too hard to keep track of all the people that ruin the gameplay for the rest of the players (botting and comitting frequent betrayals).
Maybe that's one of the reasons Bungie is staying with the XBOX 360 and not making anything else for the PC.

It's probably a lot easier for them to monitor XBOX Live (just theorizing). Probably also there's more money involved because the XBOX is a "big time" selling Microsoft product.
The new ODST game will surely rake in the bucks.
Mainly I believe from know on Bungie will move further and further away from PC gaming.

Makes my head hurt trying to understand Bungie. But yeah, they have definitely settled on Xbox/Xbox 360. There are still cheaters, but at least they seem to do something about them.

All I ask is that you don't try to capture me.

I've always felt that letting individuals run and police their own servers is a much better system than Bungie's ban robot, which consistently fails to ban all the cheaters, griefers, and jerks in Halos 2 and 3.

For HPC, it's all about finding a good server to play in. This means a server that has friendly fire off, or at least has autobans for teamkilling, and has an active moderating staff policing the server for undesirable behavior. Usually, servers run by Halo clans are excellent places to play.

You've got a point RedFlag. Thanks both of you.
