So I mentioned a week ago about my Xbox that I fried, it's a long story so I won't say it again, but since I'm gonna get a new Xbox, does anyone know if I open my Xbox and take out my HD then can I some how transfer my files to another HD? say... the one in my new Xbox, which I don't have yet, but is it possible?

Do you mean that you want files from the (undamaged)hard drive of your dead Xbox so you can transfer them to a functional Xbox?

Sounds kinda difficult to transfer something from a dead machine to a living one...

But I have been wondering though, is it possible to transfer save-files from one xbox to another via systemlink?

If the old console's fried to where it doesn't function but the hard drive's still good, perhaps you could transfer it into the new console. That would surely void the warranty, though...

Edit: Is this forbidden talk about modding, or is it an allowed topic like the cosmetic modding? It doesn't involve use of "gray-market" modifications, so Jay thinks it's Kosher...

It's possible but it requires alot more work than just swapping the drives. You must also unsolder a certain chip which recognizes the 'password' of a drive and you must swap that out with the same chip on the new xbox. I would say that it's not worth it. Modding is bad! I would NEVER mod my xbox! ;)
