I think Halo 2 will be popular when it comes out...and, just like Halo 1, that popularity will grow and grow after its release. Sometime in 2005 or 2006, I predict, there will start to be theaters that have Halo 2 contests, where players will be able to play split screen multiplayer matches, tournament style. I could see 8 players on one theater screen, and in another screen, 8 more.

After the success of that sort of thing, there will start to be theaters erected that are video game exclusive theaters, think of them as the arcades of the 2000's.

After that, video gaming will be more of a sport than entertainment, and this 'game theater' will be common all around. All started because Halo 2 provided excellent competitive play.

Disagree? Have you heard of MLG? MLG is just the very beginning of this new trend.

Uh, people have been playing games for money for longer than the MLG. Ever heard of Thresh?

And, with due respect to Halo 2, I doubt it's going to cause the creation of "gaming theaters." I don't think the idea would pay off very well.

I'd pay $5 to play the game on a big screen for an hour or so. Thats about the same profit as movies. I'm just saying it'll get much bigger than it is now with Thrash and MLG.
