I dont understand people like you.
First of all, you absolutely cannot generalize ODST as "playing the levels we played in Halo 2". ODST is so different from Halo 2, I'm not even sure where to begin. There are new guns, new tactics, and the entire city has been revamped. So you'll be playing in the same city, but it's not like Bungie took the Halo 2 "Outskirts" and "Metropolis" levels and slapped some Halo 3 textures on them.
Second, you haven't even played the game yet. You have NO idea whats in store for you. Reserve judgment until AFTER you've tried the game.
Third, Halo 3 a "big let down" ?! What were you expecting, and what is so terrible about it? If anything, it returned to some roots by mimicking some Halo: CE elements (the final Warthog run), yet still added great new features (equipment, new guns like Splaser). Even if you didn't like Halo 3, if you liked Halo: CE and Halo 2, that should be enough motivation/faith to try ODST.
Halo fans will continue to buy Halo games as long as Bungie keep turning out a great game experience, not just because it has the name "Halo" on it. Face it, the Halo universe is awesomely complex and entertaining.
