When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

"Hey you wanna go for a jog?"
"Yeah but dude, why are you holding a knife?"
"Pshhh, what are you talking about?! Everyone runs faster with knives!"

I wouldn't mind seeing knives in a Halo game but only for like the Plasma Pistol. I don't really see it as a stand alone weapon but I could see a beatdown attack, but I don't think they should do it for all of the weapons. The combat knives seem to be a thing more for the books rather then the game.

Not a bad idea, but not really a Halo thing if you know what I'm saying.

that would be pretty f'n legit but maybe more like a type of unsc form of a blunt weapon or an sharp edged or something acting as a prototype for something like the energy sword

Mbe halo needs a needle knife and fists to make melee more varied.
e.g. fists do the same amount of damage as normal melee but are faster. And the needle knife could just be another version of the energy sword that is faster but with no lunging capabilities.

This could also be good for machinima

So you have no problem with a Spartan being able to beat down an Elite with two blows (and smashing open a tank for that matter) and you think a knife wouldn't help? Surely the UNSC can make a knife of the same durability as the Mjolnir armor (?). A Spartans muscle would practically work as the gunpowder in a sniper round. Instead of a wide fist all strenght would be compressed into one sharp point.
If the Brute shot, Spiker, and Mauler melee don't kill in one shot, why would a combat knife?

Well I dont agree with it being one hit kill. Im just fascinated that people believe that a knife would break, or wouldnt be effective enough to kill with.
Personaly I think that the melee attack makes too much damage, hell, it is as effective as a sniper round. No, I think it should be three or maybe four hits before you kill someone, but then they would have to change a close quarters combat a bit, with combos or something, but at the same time let the opponent block incoming hits..
So the knife should have a nice two hit kill.

....And we spawn with a knife.

...So pretty much you just want a knife animation?

Yeah, a bit unneccesary.

Well the melee does as much damage as a sniper rifle because for balance. If it would take 3-4 melee hits to kill someone, no one would do it. Also the brute shot has a much bigger blade, and they use their full force into it. The knife is smaller and it wouldn't be as efficient as a slashing weapon as the brute shot is

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

me and a friend played cod4 1v1..you still get the problem of hey i stabed you first..and it's smart to use the weapon in your hand..

alot of guns are three part weapons.. clubs spears and...whell guns..why not have the normal melle or certant weapons haveing baonets(bad speling)

Whats the problem u cant stabb a spartan with fat armor and shields ( u wont be playing as 1) or a 9 feet armored brute to death with a knife atleast not if ur a normal ODST soldier (u r one in halo odst) so why not forget about CAMP OF DUTY this is halo the future where everything is bigger stronger and unkniffeble. it wouldnt look nice if an odst stabbed a brute trough his layers af thick armor and from what ive seen u will be fighting thoose. why the jackals have needler knifes is cuz u can stabb marines...
