Bungie said they will make the game much darker then the other Halos, so who knows?

People keep stating this but I've seen no source to back it up. Do you know where you heard it or does it just seem to be common knowledge amongst the forum? As far as I know, Bungie has not commented on Reach at all aside from its initial announcement at E3.

Bungie employees at E3 said so.

I'm asking for a source citation, not for "where it was heard". I don't remember this being in any single E3 coverage video or interview transcription. Do you remember specifically where this was revealed?

Btw, if they didn't glass the whole planet, then they just didn't glass a mountain (which would be pretty stupid). Not much to do with a single mountain with a planet without an atmosphere.

So some people are saying that the Covenant saw this one patch of unglassed land, and decided to just leave it there, even though they found survivors there.

They DID leave the mountain there. If youve read the books, then you should know that Dr Haselyl and some spartans were in the mountain, and the reason why the covenant didnt glass that mountain is because it had a forruner crystal that the covenant wanted.

Then after they left the Covenant could have glassed it. No reason to leave it if what they wanted was gone.

I dunno mbe you escape the planet in the last second.

Nah it's too cheesy escaping the Spartans off the ground. They also somehow got Johnson off the Alpha Halo, they say it's classified but i personally believe thats just because they can't think of a good reason to kill a main character...

Read the books. Has anyone considered a Covenant Campaign? Where you play as the bad guys?

Master chife servives the battel and so does the Piller of Autem they randomly jump threw slip space to draw the covenet away for earth and discover the first Halo insilathion they even talk about escaping Reach in the first mission befor the Covenet attack the ship!

if we played as the covies then it would be fun but im sick of always being the best and the coolest and the most invincible. that's why i love the idea in halo 3:ODST. cuz ur an odst u can't jump like 30 feet in the air and punch a wraith to pieces. but yeah, i noticed the major flaw. i think if they make us play as dr. halsey i will shoot myself. hehe. i hope we get to play as both humanity and covenant forces. that would be pretty cool.

Halo is like James Bond; we know the good guys will win, the story is just describing how. But in Reach we don't win, which also suggests the reason to believe it's not a prequel.

Its bloody been CONFIRMED a prequal. End of

You are a 'good guy'. Since the very first Halo game, somehow us good guys have always won. Don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but the battle of Reach is lost with the majority of the Spartan II's.

An entire planet is glassed with 'good guys' still on the ground.

I fail to see how Reach is going to work.

In the Star Wars films, the good guys win most of the time. However, in The Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith, the Empire wins and, in the case of RotS, the Jedi are outcasted to the outer reaches of the galaxy for twenty years. It's not hard for the bad guys to win in a videogame just because the good guys usually win.

Think about Halo: CE. Everyone but about 5 people die out of the thousands on the Pillar of Autumn.

Hey, don't be a zumbo! Join Halo Wars RTS!
I'm right 97% of the time. Who cares about the other 4%?

Okay, so you know you're fighting a losing battle. What wrong with that? I think it'll be a refreshing change of pace from the "good guys always win" thing that every other game seems to have.
