My idea to make dual wielding better. Dual wielding has messed up the weapon balnce in my opinion. Something needs to change here are two options.

1) Fix Dual Wielding
The weapon balance sucks in Halo 3. All guns need more range, even the DW weapons. DW weapons shouldn't feel like half weapons and should be more accuarate and powerfull alone, functioning completely like a regular weapon.

When you pick up a second weapon it would drasticly cut the accuracy and range of both guns but they would remain equally powerful. You should also be able to melee while you DW, grenades and equipment would still be disabled though. You should also be able to holster both your DW weapons.

With this solution you could DW if you wanted to but it isn't neccessary. The Plasma Pistol and Rifle would be capable of killing by themselves without melee. All others would have the ability to kill with one magazine but it would take aim.

Dual Wieldable Weapons would still include:
-Magnum(whatever model we get preferably M6C)
-SMG
-Plasma Rifle(all variants that may be included)(Plasma Freeze on headshot)
-Plasma Pistol(Plasma Freeze on headshot)
-Spiker
-Mauler

------------------or----------------------
2) Remove Dual Wielding all together
The DW feature would be removed but not the weapons. They would be reworked.

Here are some idea on DW weapon changes:
-Magnum - Maybe the M6D would return but slightly toned down
-SMG - Depending on how good it is maybe the Halo ODST silenced SMG could show up
-Plasma Rifles - Like in Halo CE
-Plasma Pistol - Like in Halo CE
-Spiker - Turn more into a carbine-like rifle that nails enemies to surfaces
-Mauler - given a faster rate of fire

tl;dr version:
make dual wielding optional
or
remove dual wielding

sig goes where?

Why would the spiker or the mauler be even in the game? There were no brutes on Reach.

Yes, but there were Brutes on Harvest. Brutes aren't mentioned in Reach, but I'm sure Bungie will drop them in somehow.

Though saying that, if i remember correctly Brutes and Elites never fought together, and Elites are on Reach.

I'm sure there will be Brutes in the game. Just because they were not involved in the book doesn't mean they were not on Reach.

Yes but the books state that Brutes and Elites do not get on well, as we find out with the start of the Coevenant civil war in Halo 2.

there may be Elites and Brutes in Reach but, not fighting in the same squads. Mainly because they're both aggressive species' and due to the Covenant hierarchy would have to take orders from each other, which isn't going to happen.

Why are you sure? Brutes were seen on Harvest but never on Reach. Also as someone else said, Brutes and Elites never fought side by side, and Elites were on Reach. Also many players have complained about the change to Brutes as the main enemy, and this is a way for Bungie to go back to Elites.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't this game set at a time when spartans wore Mark 5 armor which didn't support duel wielding?

Does armor effect the ability to hold another weapon?

For Halo reach i think it should stay loyal to Halo CE, no dual wielding. There was an amazing experience without dual weilding, and in my experience people just use it to goof off. Perhaps as an option in custom games, but i really think the gameplay is going to be good enough without it.

I think that too but Bungie will probably add dual wielding because everyone thinks holding two guns at once is cool. I just hope we don't see dual wielding ruin the game a 3rd time.

Actually, yes it does. The Mark V armor couldn't smart link two weapons at one time. That means there would be no ammo counter on the second gun.
