What if the campaign style and controls for ODST became really popular?

I think that if many people like the new style of gameplay in ODST that people would want another game with the same type of gameplay. This could eventually lead to a new type of Halo game comletely separate with its own style of matchmaking.

Agree? Disagree?

I bought up the fact that they could have made a MM for ODST and about 16 out of 20 people agreed.

yea thats what I'm talking about.
If the gameplay becomes really popular do you think people would be asking for a separate game with matchmaking?

Well the only change is the X button is for VISR mode instead of equipment ( There is no equipment.) So really there wouldn't be a dramatic change, also counting the fact you will still be able to access the other control schemes such as Bumper Jumper.

I think Bungie would have done that with Halo 3: ODST if they were ever gonna do it at all, regardless of the reception. You must understand that ODST was a very small scale project at one point of time. As the game grew in scope and scale, I doubt they had the resources to immediately expand on the Multiplayer from scratch and meet the given deadline.

In any case, there is Firefight. So, get your fix there.

Well in ODST you can't jump as high, you don't have shields, and you can't dual wield.

It wouldn't have been from scratch. They could have used the same engine, but placed ODSTs in instead. Since they already have ODSTs in Campaign and Firefight, it wouldn't have been that much of a stretch to place them in MM as well.

Also, Firefight does not enable you to play against other people over XBL. You have to work with them in a team against the AI, and it does not enable you to face off against other ODSTs.

They should bring out a disk named -

Halo 3: ODST - Global conflict

It could basically be ODST matchmaking, with the option to play as an ODST or a Jackal. Yeah, a Jackal. They're about the same size, strength, and both have night vision.

I was speaking about the difference in button layout.

There have weaker bones, but yea. Bungie could of gave them more armor.
