omg not realistic stop game production plz

Orcs aren't in Halo, simple as. Plus, Brutes are very similar to Spartans/Elites, which is why people want them in.

Nice failed attempt at mocking me there.

Okay, whatever you want. Hunters, then. They could be modelled to wield all weapons and rescaled so the fit in nicely. Then, shielding would have to be added, along with fitting armor permutations.
They could just use the Spartan hitboxes. They fit just fine. Doesn't the Security helmet use the same hitbox as Mark VI too?

You're being silly - Brutes can be added in because they are close in height to Spartans/Elites and have energy shields naturally. A couple tweaks and they're fit for MP. Flood, Grunts, Hunters, Jackals, Drones? No, they're quite different, which is why they shouldn't be in.

You're just being purposely retarded now.

Brutes would work if they were just made smaller, simple as. Bungie did it with the Elites which are less human like then Brutes.

Yes, I tried to impersonate you.

I still think that we're fine with only Elites and Spartans, and that there's no argument for implanting Brutes other than that they can.

No, you're making it sound like we're suggesting something ridiculous - Brutes are an easily addable character.

If there's Brutes in SP (I hope there are) then I hope that they will be added into MP, so long as they are scaled to be equal to Elites and Spartans.

Brutes would be able to use the exact same hitbox as the Spartans so, why not?

Nice, because insulting people is the way to go in a discussion when you can't think of a reason why you think you are right.

According to TheEndIsNear NL, they would look retarded and that's a valid reason for why they should not be added, because his opinion is the only one that matters.

Um he was impersonating your argument. In which apparently he thought you were being foolish. Let's keep it civil shall we ? The only reason they should be added thus far is because they can. We'll already have enough customization in Reach, why go to extra lengths to make something unneeded balanced ?

Well, since Hunters are a giant mass of worms, you could have small Spartan/Elite sized Hunters. And since they have hands, you could have them hold weapons. And since we have only seen 3 different kinds of Hunters, you could have different armor permutations.

i like hunters but not as a playable armor. brutes would be more practical.

Yes, but only if we have the custom game variant option to force player model.

I like Hunters too. I would want to play as one, but like you said, Brutes are much more practical for multiplayer. They would be easier to make than Hunters. I would rather play as a Hunter in Campaign though.

I agree with Towel. I would prefer everybody just be Spartans. Some people like being Elites which is "cute" but the frequent crap associated with hitting them in the head is lame. The neck shot doesn't even work (try it). I like diversity but for the sake of even, skill vs skill, gameplay I'm all about keeping everybody a Spartan like in halo: ce. The fact that everybody (except the honorable halo players out there) switch over to an elite during swat says enough. Plus a Brute that's not 12 feet tall.....aww that's just cute people. The amount of bodily humpage that will ensue is unfathomable. This gives another advantage to people that aren't Spartans. If you are killed as a brute people will stop fighting for the sole purpose of humping your body, giving your teammates ample time to grenade/shoot at their leisure on the defenseless humper and that's just not fair. But honestly, please Lord no. While you're at it take the elite out.

what ARE J00 doing?

I know I'm probably the 100th person to post this but wouldn't it make more sense that bungie should at least wait for a game after the events of halo 2 or ghosts of onyx to add brutes?

  • 06.27.2009 4:28 PM PDT

It would be cool to customize brute armor BUT

Brutes would look wierd with shields and they are way bigger than spartans and elites which would be unbalanced so no.

  • 06.27.2009 4:37 PM PDT

It wouldnt be a brute skin >_>
it would be a brute model.

Wow, this thread has really taken off. Thanks for your input everyone.

Firstly, I notice that many people are complaining about Halo canon, and claiming it might stop Brutes' implementation. Can I just say that canon is not particularly important for multiplayer. I don't remember an event in any part of the Halo story where sixteen Spartans and Elites of various colours had an all out brawl, with each one miraculously coming back to life five seconds after being killed. This happens every match in multiplayer.

Sure, you can't really change the setting or the basic rules of the universe. You can't suddenly set it in ancient Egypt and make Elites mummies or something. But you can tweak things. As I recall, Elite shields are weaker than Spartan shields in the fiction because Spartan shields were based on Jackal gauntlets, rather than Elite's own shield technology. I don't see this reflected in the multiplayer, do you? Spartans and Elites have the same shields.

See what I mean? This is a good example of tweaking small elements of a model that doesn't completely change the characters, but merely adapts and balances them for multiplayer. In the same fashion, we can let Brutes dual wield and have Spartan strength shields, or whatever we need them to do.

It has also caught my attention that a lot of people have an issue with the size of Brutes, and scaling them to Spartan size with Spartan hitboxes. I don't think this will be a problem. Brutes are a similar proportion to humans anyway (they're practically apes), and if you look at their size when compared with Master Chief in screenshots or while playing campaign you see there isn't really much difference.

There were a few issues that would have barred Elites from Halo 2 multiplayer if Bungie had tried to use Halo CE Elite models. They were considerably taller than Spartans for one thing. However Bungie adapted the model, and they now fit into multiplayer pretty well, even if some people attach a certain stigma to them.
