Is there anyway or any chance that there could be a way to phisicaly destroy (delete) a chapter/group?

I know it could cause problems in that people may do it accidently but with enough verification checks, it would be reasonably safe.

The only reason why it would be bad is if somone deleted a chapter without the founder's consent or something, like people complaining that they were thrown out of their own chapters etc. But really, it's their fault for giving them such powers.

However, i do have a plan. (though it has floors like any good plan):

* Only give the founder the power to do this. This power will automaticly be given when the chapter/group is deleted. There will be no option to give that power to anyone else.

I always a group PM. Where as a founder you could PM the whole chapter at once. If you are sending out an activity letter or a notice, this would be helpful. i also wanted an optional post count in chapters. but htat will never hapen.

That's basically what the old column had. Founder-only disbanding. However, since being a founder is no longer unique (anyone can have the same privs as the founder), it wouldn't be possible. To permanently delete a group, simply remove all it's members and leave yourself. Then, it's gone.

Well, does the founder have to destroy the group? Couldn't the founder give administration powers to someone else he/she trusts and then leave the group?

Why are we trying to disband chapters?

Well, I only suggested this because simply leaving a chapter/group doesn't delete it does it?
I'd like to try clear up the amount of chapters/groups there are.

I'd only delete a group/chapter if it died (became too in-active).

Leaving a chapter/group to someone else is fine i guess, but this is rarely an option (in my experience)

Would you honestly send out a load of PMs asking people to be active?

Eventually.

The last member to leave the group basically locks the door (and turns out the lights) behind them. If the security was set to "private" (membership requests required approval) no new members can join.

The automated process that warns people about too few members also scans for groups with no members. After 60 days with no members, the system will remove the group from the group listing and (in essence) "free up" the group name to be re-used.

Well that only works when there is someone to turn off the lights. From experience, people are still members but just don't ever post. They never come back but don't leave.

Hmm, sudden idea. I could boot people the leave myself couldn't I?

Well, just a thought. I could boot everone but if a chapter/group has a lot of members and none were active at all, a delete button would be faster and more conveninant though

Yes that can happen as well. However useually(not all the time) when a founder leaves the group soon looses all activity.

However I would like an admin privs PM group members to be possible. However that is probibly comming soon(tm) ; )
